Hello first lets congrat Piers on his bussiness adventure, do it like you do in the street and it will rip. I was the other tdr member that met you at DTT with Bob Berrends the one about the injector pump. I learned alot from Bill K also up their about trans and his bussiness tactics and he is being honest when he says he wanted to know how you feel the man is a honest and truthful person and takes no exceptions if you cant be happy with his products he goes out of his way to make you at no exceptions to cost and from talking with you. You appear to be a honest guy and will do well so good luck let me know when you get those modified 35's ready take care.

Way to go Piers #ad
I'm sure your business will get off to a great start. But beware, those rumors of trucks developing rod knocks after you work on them may come back to haunt you! #ad

Oh yes... ... ... ... ... ..... the post injector-install rod knock. Happened to me, too. #ad

BigBob and the crescent wrench tap on the frame, "Turn it off, turn it off. What was THAT!!!"

You start that, Piers???? #ad

Piers,

Thank you for your response, the minute you put up that you were a BD dealer, to me at least it implied that you were selling BD products, including the torque loc, or the pressure loc as a stand alone item as BD advertises.

Now what I think I know about your feelings on those products in private is irrelevant, as it would be here say if it were not public knowledge. As for the grandstanding, sure Piers, I am about as subtle as a freight train.

Smart controller, want to share some of the R & D costs on that one? Your half would be about 40,000 to date, (lol).

Piers, I don’t care you sell any of my products, the simple fact is this, no BS, I needed to know if you would promote or sell the pressure loc as a stand alone item, or the torque loc for any reason, whether it was as a BD dealer or as a person that knew the serious ramifications of using them.

I have never made any secret to you or anyone my feelings on the damage these devices cause, and that is part of the criteria I use when I choose to recommend any shop.

To me its simple, either A the shop doesn’t know, or B the shop doesn’t care.

My agenda has always been the same from the start, get rid of the torque loc, in my opinion it is the single most destructive device ever designed and sold for the automatic transmission.

To conclude, how you feel in private is really not relevant if you are not willing to support your feelings publicly. Consumers are trusting you based on what you market, promote, and say in public.

I am really glad I DID NOT buy an automatic. I thought I knew who to send people to... .
Sorry to see such jealosy and antimosity about your new adventure. I had heard a lot about you and finally met you at dyno days, you have a great attitude and the positive energy that will attract customers #ad
. I do not deal with disrespectful business's or people. I still need injectors #ad
. Let me know when you are ready to start selling. Stickers would be great, my windows are open for you.
I WILL DEFINITELY SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS #ad

Hey, Piers, fantastic, I'm tickled to see you getting your own shop! A lot of us in the GLTDR and SETDR were at a campout in Pigeon Forge, TN this weekend, and many are not back home yet, that's why you haven't heard from us all on here. I'm sure they all share my feelings. You're gonna have a hard time getting anywhere near Steve's truck, though, if we drive out to B. C. to see ya, his face still goes white every time we remind him of his "injector knock" . #ad

Briar... should have seen the look on SCollins' face... Piers did it to him in my driveway, and I watched the whole thing... and it still shocked me, too!
I could see it in Scott's face... "how am I going to explain this one to the boss?"

It was great!

Good luck Piers I know you'll do great becuse of your knoledge and honesty and helpfullness. Thanks for all your help in the past and I will support you in the future. Tim

Yeah, real freakin' funny! At the time is really sucked, but now looking back, it was really funny. All of you are lucky I have a good sense of humor though, otherwise he might have DISA-Piers'd! (DisaPiers, heard that one at Dyno Days..... ) #ad

First off, let me say THANK YOU ALL for your kind words & wishing me well with my new company.
Slybones aka Fred I'm looking forward to seeing you Wednsday morning.
Now on to your question Bill, I'm not quite sure why you picked this forum to ask me those questions, as you already know the answers, I suspect it is just your way of grandstanding.
Will a customer of mine leave my shop with a Torque Loc or a Mystery switch? No, he won't. Most people who buy an automatic do so because they don't want the hassle of shifting a stick. Which means to me that they also don't want any hassles with their automatic, they want a control system that is fully automatic & as foolproof as possible.
Is your new Smart Controller that way?
If it's like the product we disscussed making while we were both still at BD, it sounds like a product that I would recommend.
I'd have to install one and test it for myself before commiting myself though.
As for the Pressure Lock as a "stand alone" item, again you know answer, but it seems you want to see it in print. A pressure loc along with a valve body works well, one can say why not buy a valve body with a pressure lock built into it, but as of now there is no product out there that does that. Yes one can modify the boost valve circut in the valve body to give the effect of a pressure lock, but that only does the torque converter clutch circut, not the complete trans clutch circuts.
You say you don't mean to attack my integrity, yet you could have easily picked up the phone & asked me or e-mailed me, but you choose this route... . one has to wonder why.
I have a great respect for your knowledge of transmissions, I do however question your way of doing things sometimes.
Yes, Papa Joe I'm afraid it was me that started the knocking joke, ask Steve #ad

Hey Piers, the best of luck to you and your new venture. Although I have had my issues with BD and some of their products, you are a great person who I support 100%. As Bill said though PLEASE don't sell the TL... . I hope your new shop is a total success; I will have to pay you a visit next time I am up to try again at figuring out them Tunies and Lunies. (I thought the only lunies were here in CA)

Congrats on the new venture I would like to do the same someday but just can't get the guts to do it, but I still have 4 years before I am over the hill like you. lol

PS I tried to e mail you this morning but it bounced back.

Piers, I know the feeling of jumping out on your own... I totally changed the direction of my life a year ago as well, and you know, in spite of there being some really tough times, I have not the slightest regret.

I wish you the absolute best luck in your new venture. No matter the outcome of the future, if you learn, grow, and do it for the love of it, you are a winner - absolutely. Going out on your own is never easy, it's never "safe" and it has no gaurantee of anything save one thing... It earns my sincere respect.

Now the real question... you gonna get your own domain, so you can get the name "realbigdaddy@dodgeperformancetrucks.com"?
