Cummins stock hit a new annual high today!

Nascar race @ Texas...How many did YOU pull out of the mud???

What do they do with the skin of the pig, after it's been slaughtered? Yeah, I know they have made footballs from it, but what else do they use it for? Do they have a bunch of illegal aliens chew the skins to make them soft?

Doc

Anyone watch them slaughter pigs at the slaughter house? Do they do anything to make sure the skins are usable for the industry?

Skin of the pig

Hey gitchesum, they don't deep fry the skins in oil, they put the skins in a big pot and heat them to remove the lard (hog fat). The cracklin is a by product of fat rendering, they then use the fat to deep fry what ever. Just trying to keep you straight since you're over here with us. bg

Skin o' de swine

I had a friend from Lake Charles describe them as "Fat, fried in fat, and they give you a bucket o' lard to dip 'em in. " Tasty & healthy treat to get you to the next coronary by-pass. :D :D

Thought I would simplify it for them there Northerners. I know the thought of how Cracklins are made sounds disgusting, that's until you actually eat one.

And everyone who had tried them know dang good and well you can't eat just one. :D

Went to one of our bacon processing plants a couple of weeks back. The skin (rind) off the pork bellies are sliced off, packed in large containers, frozen, and sent to our buddies south of the border to fry up and sell.

Have you ever been to a bacon processing plant?
