Camaro,
I have the pillar and the Geno's three gauge dash pod. My triple dash pod is NOT permanently mounted to the dash. I didn't like the idea of screwing something into the top of the dash (either that or I'm that much afraid of commitment!). My wild ideas led me to get the Geno's carpet dash cover. I mounted the gauges in the pod and ran the loom containing the wires in the space between the windshield and dash. The loom runs to the driver's corner of the windshield then down under the dash. I then shoved the dash pod all the way to the windshield. The dash cover provides more than enough friction on the bottom of the gauge pod and the it doesn't move/slide/vibrate out of place at all while driving, on or off-road. It looks clean, and the gauges are easily serviceable should something go haywire, just lift it out and give the loom a little tug. Plus, you don't have to worry about the perfect texture match between the dash itself and the gauge pod as the pod is just resting on top of the cover. As for vision, there are no obstructions and it's easily readable. Sometimes I do something right.
