Anybody know where I can get the brass oil inpregnated pilot bearing? I am having my getrag rebuilt and puting in a fresh clutch and the new clutch comes with a needle bearing pilot bearing. I know I dont want that because they don't hold up but the other thing is that it is the wrong o. d. We could not figure out why their needle bearing was a bigger o. d. than the hole in my flywheel. Anybody else run into this?

Scott,

I have one for you, no charge. Give me a call on Monday and I will drop one in the mail to you. If you are in a hurry, any part store should have one... . it might not have the flange but does the trick. Just ask them for say a 1979/80 dodge pickup with a 318. and the demensions will be the same. most all older cars and trucks used the same bushing. :)

I had the same problem when I tried having my Getrag rebuilt so I had the flywheel bored out for the pilot bearing. I was never really happy until I put in the NV4500HD and put in a CON-O and a new flywheel with a Kevlar bushing from Peter at South Bend. My completed setup is smooth and much quieter than the Getrag ever was. :)

Happy trails

Bob:)

Peter is the one you have a bronze oilite or whatever you call them. The one my parts man showed me was gray and sort of looked like powdered steel or somthing. He said he was sure it was brass but I was not convinced. I wish I could put in a NV4500 but boys my spring has not been good to me and I am tight right now so I have to do what I have to do. If you know what I meen. I would have at least like to have gone with the South Bend clutch as I have heard a lot of good about them but I have to just get by right now. Besides I am a young guy and I have many more years to improve the ol Dodge. ;)

I picked one up at Tractor Supply Co and it is oilite bronze, its too long but easy to cut and cost $3. 00. Didnt need it after all but its a place to look.

Thanks guys I got one at Carquest. Thanks Peter I did what you said got one for a 79 Dodge with 318. it worked. Now to get back on the road!!!!!
