Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) pinching off wastegate line

this is part of a question I had on a previous post:



On my 95 ctd, I have a #10 plate with the restriction in the wastegate line to the pump. I understand you can pinch off/plug this line. What are the consequences or things to watch for when doing this(besides grenading your turbo)? Do I plug both the steel line from the actuator and the rubber line to the pump?

There is a rubber line from the back of your pump that runs up between the valve covers and then changes to a hard line and on to the wastegate. just pull the rubber line off and put a bolt or something similar in to the rubber line to plug it and your done. After I did this and then played a little with the pump I see

33lbs loaded and 30lbs empty Oo.

Thirty psi is as high you should go. I've hit 37 psi. But not a smart thing to do.

What I did was pull off the wastegate. Adjust the shaft. Reinstall with washers. They act as shims. With those adjustments I top out at 29 to 30 psi.

If you want more. Just install a lager housing on the turbo. Maybe a 14 would work for you?

i had mine done with a bolt and some rvt left it on there for about 25000 miles... good boost and turbo was always spooled up..... never broke anything like that... ... BUT over time the truck became sluggish on take off... ... . so i played and tuned and tried different methods to fix it... . NOTHING... ... pulled that crap off and wham... out of the hole like a bullet... ... . so bottom line... . i wouldnt do it... . there is another post floating around about this... ... one of the moderators said "DON'T DO IT, YOU DON'T NEED IT. IT WON'T MAKE MORE POWER, PROBABLY LESS" I can't agree with this whole heartedly because in the beginning my truck hauled but then after time it went down hill..... oh i guess the first thing that'll go is the seals in the turbo... didn't happen to me but to another guy i know... ...
