Pine Sap

How in the heck do you get this gooey tar off of your rv and rigs without doing damage? What if it's already dried on, any difference? Thanks.

Lowes Hdwr has a product called "Take Off" that works real well for bugs, tar, tree sap, etc. It's citrus based so it won't hurt the paint. Even though they say to watch it on some types of plastic or rubber, I've never had a problem.

Diesel fuel works great. just poor it on and light it. Ok, maybe not. If the sap is dried hard, use a sharp razor blade to cut it down to size then try one of the many removal products on the market. Be real careful to not scratch your paint with the blade.

I use 3M adhesive remover. I get it from an auto glass company. Works great on sap.

Bug sap!!!

Boy, you touched on a sore subject with me. Got back from a trip to Dallas last fall only to notice several large pine sap drips on my 2000 Airstream. (had been camped under a pine tree for better part of a week) After washing the unit, started using everything in my arsenal; bug and tar remover, mineral spirits, hair dryer blowing on damp towel, etc. Nothing touched the stuff. It was like it was made of epoxy. Finally I hauled out my secret weapon and very gingerly applied a tiny amount of "3M Adhesive Remover" Lo and behold, it worked! And as far as I can see didn't harm the shiney aluminum skin.

PineSol works great! Just dampen cloth... rub on... let set for a few minutes. . and wipe off... then wax.
