Ping

Has anyone noticed their 2010 Cummins ping when accelerating. I have 1996 and never heard it ping but the engine is so loud you would never know if it pinged or not. Just want to know if it's normal before I go to the dealer.

Mine has definitely made some louder noises as it breaks in, just passed 15k the other day. Seems to do it more when cold, and at low RPM. . might have something to do with the EGR.

I`m hoping all this extra crap strapped to the engine doesnt make me regret my purchase. . my 96 was stone reliable.

yes my 96 has been the best vehicle i have ever owned. I refused to get rid of it when i bought the 2010 in case I get mad with the new one i can go back to the old one.

Its timing "rattle" and is common with the HPCR injection system.
