I realize my trucks a bit different than the ones most of you guys have, but my 02 is doing the same thing. I hear it at all times other than 3/4 throttle or more. I've tryed all kinds of additives to clean the fuel system out and keep it lubricated but the noise hasn't changed any. I'm planning on doing a set of higher flow injectors soon, I'll let you guys know if that cures the pinging noise if no one gets their's fixed till then.

My 05 motor pings too and it seems to be pressure related. I have it just a little bit stock but if I crank up the MP8 it will get pretty loud. I just accounted it to the fact that I still have stock injs, no pulsewidth box or program at the moment and a Stage 2 CP3. Figure the pressure popoff just cant keep up and pressures are too high causing some wierd noises.

It really does sound liek a gasser though, 12:1 cr motor runnin on 87.

I know you guys have some legitimate beefs, but you've gotta hear my neighbor and a co-worker's Ford 6. 0 start up and run. Can you say" noisy"? So far on my '07 even with Smarty #3,I've got some ticking noise but nothing compared to the abundance of sounds my '99 broadcast for seven years.

The ping noise is an international problem. I don't think the pinging is caused by the fuel. I am in the military and I am stationed in Germany. I by my fuel off-base at ESSO (EXXON). My 06 started the pinging noise at about 1K miles. I emailed Cummins about the Cetane levels in Germany and they blew me off. The Octane for cars is lower than the states requirments so I was curious if the cetane levels were lower in Europe. I can't get an aswer from anyone. Diesel fuel additive cost over here cost a small fortune. My truck is a dominate force on the autobahns and runs well except for the noise at lower speeds. I don't have a Cummins dealer anywhere so if anyone finds something out please let me know because I am going to have to fix it myself.

Mine pings but it's not very loud. Done it since I test drove it on the lot. I tested some other new trucks and they did it. I test drove an auto truck and I didn't notice it. Also I noticed if you lug it a bit, the pinging gets louder. I'm not worried about it till it breaks or such. I believe it's just the HPCR set-up.

My old 93 is so darn loud, that I hate driving it anymore. I only drive it to work now. Gotta turn the radio way up at highway speeds and back down once you come to a stop. I should of went 3rd gen years ago.
