Can anyone tell me how to pin the pump to find true center? pics would be great as I am not sure what bolt to remove to pin it.

Using the Injection pump pin will not give you true center of the pump. What it will give you is the advace timming for that pumps CPL No. If you line up the pump pin and the cam gear pin the timming will be set for that engines CPL timming setting. Say for CPL 2175 (96 to 98. 5 215hp) the timming would be set at 13. 5 degrees. Hope this makes sense.

Yes you are right. I guess I stated it wrong. The reason I want to do that is the lift measuments are way off for some reason. So I still want to do that to see where I am at.

Ok I got you now! I can't give you pictures. But on the left side of the pump just forward of where the injection pump and govenor housing mate at the bottom side of the pump there is an access plug. Remove the plug bolt and pull out the plastic timing pin tool. Turn it around and you will see it has a slot in it. Look in the hole and turn engine slowly until you see the timing tooth come in to the hole. (It's actually a flat metal tab) Then the timing pin tool will fit on the tooth. DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE WITH THE TIMING TOOL IN PLACE. Anyhow that will tell where 14 degrees is for your 97 auto. Remember to put the timing tool back with the slot pointed out.
