I feel I'm on borrowed time when it comes to hitting a deer or elk and am on the verge of cranking up the torch and welder and starting on a front pipe bumper. I've been checking out new units for ideas, just wondering if anyone has a online source for plans.
At the moment I'm considering using a lighter rather than heavy approach. Purpose being that in case of a accident the bumper would bend if necessary and dissipate energy that might otherwise cause a wrinkled frame.
Will likely use sch. 20 pipe instead of 40 or 80 as many do.
This would also cut down on the weight on the already loaded front end. Of course if I go to light, then what's the point. I may do some impact tests to see how the sch. 20 pipe I have easy access to holds up to stress.
Thoughts?
Thanks RJR
