Will be getting stacks for pulling next year, thought that I would be somewhat nice to the crowd... :-laf I have a single 5" system now, 4"DP into 5" by the transmission crossmember. Would keeping the 5" going into a set of 5" stacks produce any noticeable flow or performance over 4" pipe going into the 5" stacks? From the bed up would be 5" and the pipe underneath right now is 5" but a buddy wants to buy my 5". So should I sell the 5" and get 4" to the stacks or have 5" the whole way?

not sure about performance but air flow wise the 5 inch should flow better and keep egts down better then a 4 inch going to 5 inch then stack I could be wrong but it should run better.

IF you buying a stack kit the y-pipe is 5in and reduces to 4in under the bed. not sure if you were buying a kit or making your own

Id go with as much of 5" and you could(keep those EGT's in check)

BTW do you plan on useing your single disk clutch for pulling???

I am building the stacks. Might as well use the skills that God gave me... .

Mike, as for the clutch, I am getting the same one that you are running. I didnt think that I needed to get one for the winter, so it can wait till April I suppose.

Do a member search for Oasis-3 and follow the links to his webpage. He has the entire parts list with part numbers to make the 5" style thats on his 01. 5 truck and its one of the cleanest home installs I have come across.

I asked Country Boy about stacks when I was out at Kecksburg for a show this summer and why his were not any larger here was his response... .

"The reason I didn't go any larger was exhaust velocity for height. The larger you go with stacks the slower and lower the smoke goes into the air. They all cool about the same but the smaller diameter(4"-5") will shoot the smoke higher into the air with more velocity than the larger 6" and up stacks"

Now thas a dude who is into stacks to much but has a nice truck and yes it did send the smoke screaming into the air,LOL... ..... Andy
