Edge EZ / Comp Connector...Anybody got a spare?

While at Carlisle, I put a bug in the ear of the guys from Keisler (5&6 speed conversions for Mopar pass cars) about making a pistol grip shifter for our trucks. The guy seemed interested in the idea and I told him I would send my stock shifter so they would know how to mount it. This will definately take some time and a few e-mails from people expressing some interest to make it happen. Keisler can be reached at www.keislerauto.com

Is this a vertical shifter, or a "T" handle.

I opted for this route.

Check the JEG'S catalog, they have them but not sure about the thread size. In my case, I think a pistol grip would be awkward.

that is a pretty cool shifter!!! i would also like to c a pistol grip shifter what it would look like!! if it would be anything like my dads 70 plymouth cuda 440 pistol grip 4spd it would be awesome it fits perfectly in ur hand! bang threw the gears with ease!!

The added bonus of the pistol grip shifter is if your hand gets sweaty you can change the radio station. I used to do this on my 71 Challenger with a 340 that I put a 833 4 spd into with the pistol grip shifter. :D

Got one up on ya here...

There was a TDR member from Reno in attendence who does the repops and rebuilds for Hurst on these shifters. We chatted at length about the desire for the availability for a shifter like this for our trucks. Its already in the making and nearing final completion. He assured me they should be ready in about a month or two. His shifters will also be available with various colors( he had a cool bright red one there which would look killer in a Flame Red ride)for the pistol grip and what ever top you need(5 or 6 spd).

Price was not set yet and he will email me the info or post it if he gets a chance as soon as the products are ready. One thing I do know about Keisler Automotive is thier complete inability to use good business practices. I have a very good friend who purchased one of their setups from them and got jerked around over a year to have all the "correct install parts" shipped to him,Meanwhile his 6bbl Challenger clone sat. Another thing they do not tell you is it is NOT a complete bolt in unit and do not let you know how much hacking is needed to do the job. Keisler, nope not my money..... Andy

To make this set-up work the shifter would have to be made taller i think. I have a 70 GTX with the pistol grip and had a 71 Cuda with the pistol grip and in both cases the grip is in line with your arm,not like our trucks are where we reach down to them. But where there is a will there is always a way.

Hammer, I was un-aware of any problem with Keisler, If your contact beats them to the punch , I will do business with him.

Rattler, All that is needed is to change the angle of the grip so it is still comfortable when reaching lower. If one is being made for our trucks, I'm sure this is being taken into account.

I made one that replaces the 4x4 shifter with a pistol grip I am willing to make more if there is a demand it would be a direct replacement for the factory one I have a pic but I need help posting it so if someone can pm me with directions that would be great ( every time I try it says file is to large ) Aaron

If you are interested take a look in readers rigs under aharrow and there is a picture there it's a bad quality one but you will get the idea Aaron

Andy, this fella's name wouldn't be Scott Smith would it? He makes repop Pistol Grip shifters-I was in contact with him about a year ago about making them for the trucks but I never got around to sending him a handle for a pattern. His stuff was very very nice looking in the pics-basically started with a blank piece of stainless and a chunk of wood and by the time he was done it was a piece of art.
