Hey all, just caught an older episode of "Trucks" where they modified a 70's Pistolgrip shifter to put in a 2nd gen Dodge truck, and I was curious if any aftermarket companies are doing this... though it looked pretty cool.

Thanks... Michael

I was going to do that back when Tomeygun modified that SRT 10 shifter to fit a new truck. Figured out exactly how to do it... ... then I looked up that Pistol Grip shifter. Dang near $300! :eek: :--) #@$%! ... ... oh well :rolleyes: :{

There was a guy a Carlisle who was offering pistol grips for the 6 speed 3rd gen trucks. I think I have his card at home. If I can find it, I'll update this post. The samples he had looked pretty nice, with a choice of patterns for the inserts (wood grain, carbon fiber, etc) and both shift patterns for the top.

I found the flyer from the guy at Carlisle! The company is Gunslinger Automotive Products in Reno, NV. (775) 750-0988, -- email address removed -- or www.pistolgrip727.com.

The web site only shows stuff for restoring the original muscle car pistolgrips, but at Carlisle he had a display of other fitments. The 3rd gen kits were on a first run special. He hadn't received his first run of handles yet, he just had his pre-production sample on display. If I remember right, the kit included a machined adapter to attach to the factory shifter assembly that would accept the rectangular section pistolgrip shifter, the shifter handle, a choice of handle inserts and appropriate shift pattern for the bezel. The whole kit wasn't real cheap, about $300, but it looked real complete and the parts seemed to be good quality.

No, I'm not associated with the company, but I did consider buying the kit. I didn't because I decided to put the money toward a Duster 340 I'm restoring. Story of life - too many toys, not enough time or money :(

Thanks again for all the info...

BKaiser, I feel your pain, I've got almost 3 grand in my VW longblock alone! I could have a 500 HP V-8 for the same money it's gonna cost me to squeeze 150 out of this thing!!
