Today I talked to Bill K, I am going big. Gonna go with the TC & VB upgrade on my truck. Need to save a little more so I can put in DD 2's and Edge Comp. I think it will be in January, Then I will have enough $$$$$$$. Bill said to go with the 89% TC because of my horse hauling but I think I want to go with the 91% TC. Them Ponys are gonna have to hold on:D He is the man though and I will do what he thinks is best for my truck. What is the experience of you guys. Is that too much power? Is too much power even possible? :) Will it be too harsh of a shifter with the 89% TC ? Let me know what you think... Thanks

P. S. Took out the Res and stock muffler and put in an open muff. Very cool sounding, My poor neighbors are gonna hate me at 5am:D Also want to thank Fred Swanson (DDP) for all of his help. I spent over an hour on the phone with him and he put up with all of my stupid questions..... Fred will be doing the work for me... ... . Thanks Fred

Too much power? Depends... ... on how the individual person uses his/her truck. I only hot rod, so no I can't have too much power. You tow so yes you can have too much and still be able to use the truck as you need to.

The II's + COMP will be plenty of power for you I would think. Just stay away from the drag strip. :D Otherwise it won't be enough.

Hard shifting

Greg, you will really like the DTT upgrades to your transmission. If you do the performance upgrades at the same time, it will be a different truck when you get it back.

As far as the shifting, the torque converter isn't going to have much effect on how harsh the shifts are, the way Bill sets up the valve body will be the most important.

Bill K. has a set up just for livestock hauling, talk with him again, and check it out.

I have the 89% TC, and it is very tight! I don't think I would want the 91%. My VB is not the livestock version, and the shifts are definitely firm, and probably would 'stagger' the stock in a trailer.

The trans and TC are so tight, that I can almost treat the truck like an automaticly shifting stick. What I mean is that I can accelerate in first, back off the throttle, get the shift, accelerate up in second, back off the throttle, get the shift, accelerate up in third, and so on.

If I had tried this with the old trans, the rpm swings would have been drastic, and when I backed off the first time it probably would have shifted up two gears.

This is defintitely the way the truck should have been to start with. Of course the EZ Box and BD injectors have a big effect too. :D :D !

I'm sure you will be very happy with your 'new' truck. [how can you wait, now that you've made your mind up??]

Enjoy!! Greg L :) :D
