eh

i've got a snug top and it's great. like a huge lockable trunk, better mpg's as well.

problem is if you carry odd shaped items you've gotta take it off and in my case it's heavy and akward.

if i could sell my snug top (anyone interested ;) ) i would go for a roll top bed cover instead. anyone know if there is a lot of rattle at speed?

hope this helps.

I've got a set that I purchased from 4WPW. They look pretty good for the ~$45 cost - not as nicely fitted as the factory Ford or GM versions though. I've had them on for ~1 year and the 3M double sided tape is coming loose at the corners over both taillights. Not difficult to fix - I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Other than the tape issue I'm pretty happy with them.

When is DC going to include the darn things from the factory:(

I got the rubber covers on mine, they don,t look as good as

the plastic or stainless but I roll a cap on and off by myself

two or three times a year so the rubber works for me.

I think the stainless looks the best if you got the bucks.

Have a good one

I made my own

I know this isn't what you are asking about, but I made my own. I used 3"x3"x3/16" angle iron. I shaped it, welded it, and painted it black. I will make another, and powder coat it. I have my toolbox and headache rack attached to it. The reason I need to make another, is I need one that hangs over a little more. I'll use 4"x3"x3/16" next time.

I'll make a deal if anyone wants the one I have. It attaches to the bed with bolts in the inside, and not down throught the top of the bedrails.

I had plastic on my Y2K truck. I got them from 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers. They were okay. Same problem as stated above with the tape not sticking too well at the corners.

bed rail caps

mike, I put DeeZee dark smoke color formed plastic caps on my truck at the same time I installed my Pace Edwards roll top bed cover. The idea was to seal off the stake pocket holes with something that would match the black bed cover. After three years, the rail caps look pretty bad. I guess the UV gets to them. I can polish & wax them and they look new for about a week. Then they take on a real dull, faded and discolored look. I'll be removing them. Maybe three years is the normal life of these things - don't know.

Good luck, MikeH

I got the "WADE" brand black plastic rail covers, from Pickups Plus, they're available either with stake holes or without. Got 'em without. They look good, even after 6 months, though it's irritating to have to keep wax away from them, same as the door handles and mirrors and top of rear bumper...

I put the Dee Zee diamond plate with stake pockets on mine and they look great. I happen to have another brand new set in the box if interested.
