I looked all over, cannot find them. I found similar ones but not the exact ones. Anyone know any part numbers for napa carquest or similar parts store that work with these. For my 96 ram.

thanks

erik

I ordered a bag of 50 christmas tree fasteners from Elliott Distributing for $11 plus shipping. That was a couple of years ago but I'm sure they haven't gone up too much. They were exactly the same as the OEM, just different color. The Item no. for my truck was 19213, you might want to call and see if this number fits your '96.

I went to a local paint store and had them order me a box of 50 also. I don't know the part #, but you may have luck at an automotive paint store.

I'm going to call elliott tomorrow, if they don't have them, ill try the auto body store... I hate plastic... why couldnt we just have screws?? lol

I wish I'd seen this thread before I ordered mine! I wanted to get the exact part so I ordered the Mopar part from www.mydodgeparts.com. They have pretty good prices but they were still INSANELY expensive for what they are. Just a strange bit of trivia - my 2002 factory service manual calls out the wrong part number in the section in removing/replacing the door panels. It is one digit off. I ordered the part in the FSM and ended up getting door clips for a Dodge Stratus or something. It was a strange, painful experience. The worst part is that I am not very happy with the Pioneer speakers that I put in the door but there is no way I am EVER taking the panel off again unless something breaks:)

I have bought them at napa before. However you are right they are not exact replacements. I took in an oem one , they pulled out a book and matched it to a picture. They work fine. They are made of a much more brittle plastic than the oem ones. I have used more of them than I would like. Have had to pull the door panels off 3 or 4 times now for various reasons. I am still using some of the stock ones but the ones I have had to replace rarely come off without breaking the head off.

As an aside, I cannot believe how tenaciously the factory fasteners hang onto the door. When removing the door with the trim tool I more often than not had the fastener stay in the door while the fastener's flat flange in the panel bent enough for it to come free. Thankfully I never had any damage occur to the trim panel. I had to grab the fasteners left in the door with pliers and wiggle back and forth until they came out.

Taking these door panels off three or four times sounds like torture to me! I took the seats out of my truck at the same time. For a week I was driving around with just a drivers seat... I kinda liked it:)

When I bought mine from Napa for my '01 when I installed my mirrors they appeared identical to OEM, not sure if perhaps there's a difference with the fasteners some napa's carry?

Ok... Any sources of these things online? The Elliot Distro company doens't list them in their product list anymore? JCW has no listing for them either. They do, however, have the tool!

If you can't find them local or order them I can see if my local Napa has them still... I assume the '95's are the same as my '01? If I can find them I can ship them to you... but you have to be able to find them somewhere by you.

John:

I see you've begun Ned's transformation. Hope it will make you a good ride and you thought it was everything ole George advertised.

Wish I knew you wanted clips and I'd left some in the door pocket.

Good luck

Andy

Here's another one from cliplink

You can source this at a DC dealer for about half of what the oem part was. It holds well and comes out far easier and doesn't usually tear up door panels, even if the DIY doesn't have a battery of clip tools to remove such.

I just picked up 2 packs of Ford clips from Autozone that worked great. $7 total for 30 pieces compared to the friendly 5 star dealer wanting $3. 40 a piece for the oem stuff.
