2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission plastic rear wheel well liners

My oem liners were removed by the previous owner. I have since got a used set. I also got just the flat verticle plastic fill piece used on earler trucks. the 2 are mounted to the backside of the wheel. I noticed that they can also be used on the front side of the wheelwell. So with living in a snow/salt area, is it better to use the 4 piece setup rather than the full tubs? I notices some trucks with tubs rusting over the rear tires. Was it caused by dirt & rubbing of the liners? I have no problem removing them for a spring cleaning. Any thoughts which setup would be better?

I had the tubs on my 06 2500 and loved them... . 50k miles in chicago plowing in the winter. no sign of rust at all... ...

i have the front and rear off of a 96 2500 in good condition but dont have the plastic rivits took them off still have them

I guessing that the rust formed between the outer bed side and the wheelwell where it spot welded together, holding dirt, salt & moisture and not caused by the liners. They set on top of that flange. (I think I might try that fluid flim and coat that area along with inside my doors. ) I like the full liners, but I have installed the torquelift polyurethane blocks above my camper springs. They are hard on the ride when empty as they only have 1" air space between the springs and the blocks. But with the trailer hitched, they are just touching. So I may take them out if I won't be using the trailer for awile. Which is why I thought of using the 4 piece mud flap style plastic pieces, because that would allow me wrench access to remove/install the blocks. I do like the liners keeping you from seeing all the springs, etc.



I should look into adding air bags, however I don't know if the camper springs need to be removed or the liners modified?
