Fellow Members,

I would like some help choosing my next plate. The reason for the plate change is to add a GSK. I will probably add a 4K kit to keep the 160 H. P. pump fueling a little longer. I currently have a TST 6 plate and made 309 R. W. H. P. with my set-up. I am torn between a #4 and a #10. These two plates were chosen because of compatibility with the GSK. I am working on a replacement turbo also, so EGT's will be kept in check either way. I am leaning toward the #10 because the other plate is said to be hard on the forward clutches within the auto. Also, I don't really like heavy, pre-boost smoke coming out of my truck, so that is another "plus" for the #10. Check my complete signature for complete set-up information. Also, a Rip's four inch system should be delivered tomorrow. Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge!

i would go with the #4 plate. im running a zero plate in my 95 auto. when i was looking for a new plate i wasnt told anything about the #4 plate being harder on the foward clutches. if you want to get rid of the preboost smoke turn your star wheel in some. in general the #4 plate will be harder on the trans because it will make more power than the #10 in your truck.

Ronco, you might try this! Get the 4K's and put them in, keep the #6 and adjust your Governor arm with these instructions http://www.piersdiesel.com/TechLeverAdj.htm The #6 fuels less on the bottom and more on the top as you can see in the picture, try it first then decide but I will tell you the EGT's will be higher with the 6 vise the 10 as the 10 has a de-fuel on the top... ..... that's it's design, I use a #6 in my pump because I like the softer bottom with max rack travel on the topend.

Jim, I have the #6 in both my 95 & 98 auto 3. 54. I don't tow heavy anymore with the 95 but would like more rpm from both. The 95 defuels at about 2200 and the 98 at about 2500 rpm. The 98 has not run above 1200 degrees so far towing, but I have to back out in OD when the boost hits 24# to keep the stock OE transmission from slipping (148K). I would think the GSK would allow me to drop to drive on serious hills and still maintain my cruising speed. Hopefully saving the transmission for a while. Does that sound reasonable? What rpm can I expect to be able to maintain safely with the 4K under load?

Thanks.
