I plan to up the power slightly & was wondering which is the better method on a stock '98 12V 5spd. An 11 or 10 plate, or a set of larger injectors? I'm sure I'll get a bunch of "Both!" but I plan to do one or the other. A better intake/exhaust a 3kgsk & ..... ? Daily driver that tows our ~8000lb TT monthly.

I did a search, but it's not working very well yet.

With a #11 and GSK, timing at 16. 5deg, gov. lever adjusted it dyno'd at 370/900. Stock injectors, stock air-box (with KN), stock exhaust minus kitty, stock HX-35. It runs hot and I can't run WO on mountain passes pulling trailers, but I get their quicker! Very much a wake up. It's not a race truck by any stretch, but definately a wake up. :D

Many will say the 10 is better, I don't know, this is the only modified plate I've had.

I'd say with 4" exhaust, turbo enhancements and a better intake, I'd be at or just over 400hp.

#11 plate from TST for what is it, $235. Use the rest of your injector money on a 3K spring kit and you'll be pulling strong.

I think that if it's a daily driver and you tow very little, a plate would be perfect. They are cheap, easy to install, and give a noticable improvement in the trucks performance. The stock exhaust system is probally the best choice for a daily driver. The aftermarket is littered with exhaust makers for out trucks, unfourtionitly they all have there drawbacks, namely DRONE. If you have a family, I would stay stock on the exhaust. It can really get load in the cab, esspecially when towing. There is a spot that almost everyone has problems with, it is in the 2000-2200 rpm range. I changed over to a 4" exhaust and yes it need help reduce EGT's while towing heavy loads, but even with the quietest muffler the noise got too loud to for a fun and comfortable drive. I spent many hours and a boat load of money to get the noise level back down to an exceptable level, he you or may not want to do the same thing, just be warned.

I installed a TST plate 3-4 months after I purchased my truck, it gave a nice boost to the truck, without causing any un-wanted troubles. You might want to start out with a less agressive plate. The guy's and gal's at TST will be glade to recomend one for you. They also allow you to return the plate for credit on another plate if that is something you would wish to do down the road. They are really good people and have helped me many times, I truely like doing business with them. Good luck and enjoy your truck.

Get a #10 Plate and the 3,000 GSK this will give a real kick in the rear. Save for 370 injectors and a Piers HX40-16. At this point it is time for exhaust 4" no larger and a better intake system Scotty II or AFE. JMHO

I did the 370s first as a great buy on them came up that was too good to pass up. The HP improvement was disappointing. Maybe 40hp. The #11 plate really woke it up. The exhaust upgrade can be put off for a while as it hasnt been a great HP add on. I am still using a stock set of pipes without any type of muffler or CAT and I am at about 425HP. A 4" system is a great way to go when you upgrade to a HX40 turbo.
