After 148000 My stock trans finally is on its way out. After its replacment do I slide the #6 plate forward or swap in a better plate ?

Are you beefing the transmission up or putting it back stock? If stock I wouldnt touch a thing,If your upgrading the trans I would go for a #4 plate. I'm happy with mine and its all the way foward, watch the EGT though, they can get high when the plate is all the way foward... Rick

I would suggest some injectors. Your engine has real small OEM ones. You are smashing alot of fuel thru a tiny injector that was never meant to. 215 Injectors would probably give you 50 HP/120 Ft lbs. Might as well upgrade the delivery valves too. This way you can run the 370 injectors or Diesel Dynamics's.

The #4 plate is a strong one. About 60-70 HP more than the #6.

53 Willys,

How long have you had your plate in (mileage)? I have a similar setup and have thought long and hard about the plate, but my trans is still bone stock.

TIA,

Ronco

The #6 has been in somewhere over 20K. The thought was that the trans was already past the point that most make it to. So if its demise was speeded up it would not matter. Two problems with it . 1-I'm self employed and make my living out of this truck and it is sitting and waiting for a new trans. 2- it's a disease-once you start you keep looking for the next increase.
