Hey guys had a question... Just slid the plate all the way forward and had previously adjusted the afc spring all the way forward... so I'm thinking smokefest before i fire it up... well no smoke at all... so i guess this is a good thing. .complete burning of fuel? could the BHAF flow enough air that I don't smoke?other than no smoke it seems to be a nice gain in HP. .

IS IT A STOCK PLATE?

YOU WONT GET MUCH SMOKE WITH A STOCK PLATE I HAVE A #6 AND ONLY GET A SLIGHT HAZE WHEN AT FULL BOOST WOT... BUT IF I HAMMER FROM A DEAD STOP IT WILL CLEAR THE INTERSECTION... ... RICK

you can get plenty of smoke out of a stock plate, trust me I did.

When you say you turned the star wheel did you turn it towards the motor or away from the motor?

Towards = smoke

Away = no smoke

the BHAF will help reduce smoke. When I first installed my #11 plate and 370s it smoked really bad and added the BHAF and cut it quite a bit.

I rotated all the way to the front(towards the front of the engine) I guess I'm gonna have to look for some new injectors... would it be possible to get 300s or 370s from a cummins dealer?same goes for delivery valves... and why were at it maybe a turbo off a 8. 3 cummins?

Coldsteel, Did you have the AFC housing slid all the forward when you tightened it down? The star wheel is a fine adjustment and sliding the AFC housing is a coarse adjustment. If you want max fuel and smoke the AFC housing should be slid all the way forward. Best of luck.

coldsteel, My '95 will smoke like a freight train. My pumps been tweaked but you should be seeing smoke. you might watch your EGT with the plate full foward. It will get hot fast.

I second what R. ebel said, check to make sure your housing is fully forward, and you should see smoke. Even a '95 auto should smoke when everything is pushed forward like that...

AFC housing all the way to the front, plate forward,AFC spring all the way to the front... and still no smoke... I think my timing has slipped a lil bit. . blue smoke on start-up . . and stumble at high rpms?? its ok i'll just go the normal route for smoke... you know burning used motor oil around the campfire. . makes for some tasty hotdogs...

i had a stumble at 1800 when cold and some smoke on startup. turned out my timing at slipped to 8*, so i got it set up to 16. 3*. runs better now.

I have a 94' with the #5 plate slid all the way back, and have the housing slid all the way forward. I also have the star wheel turned as far away from the engine as I can and still have alot of smoke. Could it be like R. ebel mentioned about the housing, I may need to back it off some in order to adjust the smoke, You think

i did mine and it smokes like no tomorrow i didnt mess with timing or the "star wheel" or anyting. . just pulled the plate all the way forward and then the HOUSING THAT GOES OVER THE PLATE, be sure you pull it forward tooo..... if i push the housing back on mine it quits smokin.....

good luck man

No smokey! housing all the way forward,plate slif, starwheel adjusted. . maybe my truck just runs good?? or maybe the injection pump is going out?not able to push enough fuel into the injectors?

Maybe your fuel supply is being restricted somewhere, I know with my stock 160 injectors, and a #5 plate all the way too the back(250hp), mine will get you in trouble in the city.
