Well, the never ending search for the right combination of plate & position may finally be over. The #11/280 slid to 320 just got replaced by a #8/340 slid to 380. In the 215hp pump, that's about 3/4 of the way forward. Another successful SOTN suggestion.

I figure by watching posts on dyno results & talking to Mark @ TST that in the 215hp pump, you gain approx 60hp by sliding all the way forward, so starting with the #8 centered, which is 340hp in the 215 pump, 3/4 of the way is approx 40 more hp. Yep, it feels like it.

The #8 has more low end than the #11, but not as brutal as the #10. You can sure see it comparing the #8 side by side to the #11 & #10. The #8 cuts about 1/32 to 1/16" deeper than the #10 & gets it @ a higher RPM. After examining the #10, it can be seen why DBR & others don't like it for towing. It cuts way in to the plate right from the get-go. I modified a #10 to increase the top end another 30hp or so, but didn't use it because of towing. I think if I was never towing, I'd use it.
On the test hill, a long steep hill, & starting from the bottom on the on-ramp, EGT @ around 66 degrees ambient only got to 1350. Boost max was 36psi, 4 more than before. I was watching the traffic, boost & EGT guage. Wow, I'm doing 100mph up this motha.

No wonder the rear bumpers are coming up faster than normal. Try it, you'll like it.
