Rear end slack... I started noticing some play in the driveline not too long ago and figured that I had a ujoint going bad, nope, not the case... 150k on the truck and still running the original ujoints and they are still tight. The slack has gotten worse in the last week since my trip from hell to oklahoma and back. I now have alot of play in the rearend and need to get it looked at. Question one: Does anyone know of a reputable 4x4 shop in the Charleston SC area? If I was back home, I would do it in my brothers shop or take it to Sam's offroad.

Second question, can anyone speculate what might be worn out? I think it is probably the pinion bearing or something along those lines. Would this be the right opportunity to have the whole rearend rebuilt and have a detroit locker installed? Money is a little tight right now, but if I have to have the rearend torn apart might as well do the locker now.

Morph.

You may have spun a carrier bearing and spit a shim out ... mine did this and had to replace the bearings and reshim.
