NFL Playoff Picks:

OK, there are 8 teams left in the NFL playoffs. Let's start a little pool to see who the best prognosticator (picker) is:

The winner gets... . bragging rights on TDR!

Rules:

The Contest will start this Saturday and finish

on February 5th; SB XL! The winner will be decided by

the highest number of points achieved. Points will

be assigned (by you) for each play off game/SB.

Tie-breaker will be decided by actual points predicted in

SB game. Each week I will assign you points for

your selection process and will post results.

Any selections posted on/after scheduled

game start time will be tallied as a 'dnp';

no exceptions, no excuses, no discussion!

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Playoffs - Divisional Playoffs:

You have four point values to assign to the

following four games; one value for each game.

In order to achieve the assigned point value,

your picked team must win... point values are

7, 5, 3 and 1; for a potential first weekend

play off total of 16 (one selected/potential

game winner must be assigned a 7 point value

and must win to achieve the 7 points...

followed by 5 points, 3 points and l point)...

Example... Rams - 7, Arizona - 5, Jets - 3

and Minnesota - 1...

So in other words, the game you feel most certain about you will give 7 pts. to your predicted winner, the game you feel least certain about you will only give 1 pt. to that predicted winner. A total of 16 pts. this weekend (7,5,3,1)

Yeah, I want the AFC Championship in Mile High, and somebody's got to knock off the Colts for that to happen. Of course, if Denver tries to look past the Patriots, it's gonna be ugly. I agree with the post in the other thread: it's going to be a tight game until the 4th quarter when the Patriots get gassed in the altitude. Or so I hope! :D

Washington -1

Indy-3

Chicago- 5

NE- 7

Washington will find a way

Indy just keeps on rolling

Chicago is just plain better

Plumer will suffer a melt down, I would prefer to see Denver win but Plumer is a back-up at best and usually falters when faced with a great defense.

Brian

Seattle runs away, New England in a nail biter, Indy shakes off the rust and comes from behind, Bears can only manage a couple of fieldgoals... . :D

Lessee - Tom Brady's first playoff loss ever. Bill Belichick's first playoff loss with the Patriots ever (he lost one as head coach of the Browns years ago). Adam Vinatieri's first playoff miss in 21 field goal tries. And 5 turnovers after not having any in the past 7 games - 2 within a minute at the end of the first half. Jake Plummer wasn't the best quarterback ever this evening, but he didn't have to be. And I will be cheering as hard as anyone for the Pittsburgh Steelers later today - it would be great for the Road to the Super Bowl to suddenly go thru Denver. Oh, and how 'bout Denver's KICKER - putting his helmet on the ball and causing a fumble! That was too great.

Don't forget about the phantom pass interference call that led to the Broncos first touchdown. Took the wind right out of the Pats sails. That guy must have had a Broncos shirt under his stripes. . ;)

Interference

That call could have went either way, both of them had their hands all over each other. I think the clincher was the ball went deep and samuels had his arm across the recievers chest at the end... But the Broncos should have already had seven on the board, bad play call by Shanahan on the first try. :D

Not only that, but Champ Bailey fumbling the ball into the end zone... sure no CONLUSIVE evidence to overturn the call, but when the left foot hits the pylon as the ball is sailing out... logic would have to say the ball crossed the plane of the goal line.

Still, that's no excuse for one of the crappiest playoff performances I've ever seen. NE did everything short of shooting themselves in the head. They deserved to lose...

Dunno if it was a phantom call, but I have to admit I didn't see whatever that side judge saw. Had the Patriots lost by 7 points, it would be much more controversial (even discounting the sudden swing of momentum). It was thrilling football though - the Broncos down 3 to 0, New England driving for the score after having no turnovers for the last seven games, and suddenly it's 10 - 3 Denver after two turnovers. It wasn't Denver's best offensive showing, nor was it the best defense if you go by yardage - but they took quick and decisive advantage of New England's mistakes. Considering how few mistakes they've made over the past few years, you have to give considerable credit to Denver's defense, fans, and altitude - and that kicker!

Steelers!

Are coming to Denver!!! I am sure the Broncos can arrange a party for em!! :-laf The kicker for Denver is no little guy, that is also a textbook tackle... :)

Woohoo! 4 and 0! A quick review of the posts reveals I'm the only one silly enough to pick the Steelers. JH, you didn't do so well dude! :p And for the first time all year the road to the Super Bowl doesn't go thru Indianapolis. This ought to be the best of all worlds for the Broncos - not only do they get to play at Mile High (does anyone actually call that place Invesco Field that isn't paid to do so?), but Ben Roethlisburger got dinged on his throwing arm - that can't be good for the Pittsburgh offense.
