I have corresponded with Gary on here and he was always pleasant. I can certainly feel for his anguish as a small minority younger generation people here are just plain imature and closed minded.

Is a shame you guys have lost a good member

MACKIN are you sure it's only the young that are closed minded! that statement sure paints a broad stroke. If you are a part of this site ( and you must be to post here)than the statement " is a shame you guys have lost a good member" 1. as a member we all are a little poorer for loosing Gary. you included. . 2. We lost nothing! gary left on his own decision no one forced him out,He chose to QUIT and Quit is what he did! He made a personal decision for his own reasons. It is nobody's fault on this web site Young or old we are a community and we will sometimes disagree. But to completely degrade a complete generation goes beyond the pale of decent thinking. Yes some of us are immature and closed minded but age has nothing to do with it. This fits all age brackets young, old and middle aged. I too have talked to Gary and he could be a very stubborn person but that is what made him who he was. He did not care to tell us what his problems were and frankly I really don't care. Enough now GARY is gone. Lets get back to business the business of being a web site for CUMMINS owners and their friends. this web site is more than just one person. TOD

I've seen the age thing brought up in other posts over the year that I've belonged to this group. I was kind of caught up in one myself. Frankly, I don't think age has a darn thing to do with it. I don't know how old 99. 9% of the folks on here are, unless they drop it in a post. When I did find out how old some are, I was surprised they are as young as they are. I'm 41 and considered myself "young" until I found out that guys like Greg Boardman are still in their 20's and early 30's. Kind of shoots the "old=knowledge, young=foolish" in the foot. I think what DOES bother some guys more is that someone comes on the site and hasn't been here long and makes some comments that are considered cocky. Anyway, I think when someone quits the group, we all lose just a little bit of knowledge base, and in some cases a lot of knowledge base. Just my . 04 worth. Hope all's ok, Gary.

Dang! And I thought the transmission threads were on fire! So little in and so much out! You guys do realize that if Gary does answer this one it is going to great reading :-laf

Seems to me I can recall a recent thread full of vitriol and hyperbole by some individuals. Something about a GM site, if I recall correctly. :D

Y'know, Gary and I disagreed about a number of things over the years - an example being the as big oil companies, yet I still have a lot of respect for Gary. One thing this ole man wishes people would learn is that we can disagree without being disagreeable. :(

Having disagreements with someones Findings Doesnt consitute Being Dis-Respectful to anyone who has devoted their own time to help so many

Thanks For starting a thread to say BYE rather than just leaving and keeping us in the dark .

If the trouble is the younger members, we all know the young folks have all the right answers. If you don't believe it, ask um. My daddy used *#*#*#* and I will to. Why? Is it the best for you? It has to be. Daddy used it. Remember, If you haven't been around long enough to use something for 20 or 30' years, how do you even have an opinion of it? You're just blowing smoke through you're ars.

Gary's right. I don't read the threads like I used to either. They've gotten old. The same old questions, and the new members don't really want answers, they want you to think they got it right. I see where he's coming from.

Best of luck to , Gary.

Gary posted in a thread about 2-3 months ago that he wasn't renewing his membership. So this thread is *HIS* way of attracting attention to his decision. :-laf

Maybe he is trying to give the site a black eye in the process - I hope not. Knowledgable - yes. Opinionated - definitely (but aren't we all). The thing about Gary is that he seemed unable to concede that another position *MAY* have some merit - I suspect this was the source of his frustration, and his tenacious debate may also be the stimulation for some of the attacks.

I suspect he will be back - he has gone away and come back before.

Yep, he is just crying. He can dish it out and cant take it.

He got jumped on by myself and three others (that I know of) for making ignorant posts and being petty and sarcastic in his responses to their questions.

Losing Gary is like losing a flat tire, no great loss. I may be in the same catagory, but I can dish it out AND I can take it when someone calls me on it.

Do a search on Garry's posts and then decide if it is a loss.

Goodby Gary, please quit crying.

Perhaps I should join the NW Bombers so I dont miss any of Gary's 14,000 daily posts. If you need to send flowers, look there.

I don't post a lot on any message board because I feel I don't get a lot in reply to what I post about. On some topics, yes, but not very often. More-so on another forum where cars are discussed. I just dropped membership this fall because of that. I do searching whenever I want to know something that I don't know now. And if you think i'm not getting replies because i'm rude, well, i'm as friendly as an old shoe... ... take that FWIW.

Man I can't wait to quit and read my obituary by my fellow members. . :-laf :-laf :-laf . One thing for sure I won't tell anyone I'm leaving, I'll just fade back to Hawaii Oo. Oo. :D

Thom ... did you say somethin??

When they say "Younger" members it's a combination of the newer internet generation that come off as know it alls that hide behind a shield called a monitor. It just so happens that statisticly the posts generated by them can be brash , have no meaning other than to drive up post count , and above all throw off that I know it all persona. It's not an "Age" thing really at all ... coincidently tho it does happen when both criteria are met.
