I have a 2000 dually auto diesel that has a problem!, I can start truck and start to take off in and it want to go to 2nd gear and then it puts out a large blue/white puff of smoke and then the engine will be sluggish! then it will only take off in 3rd gear, I talked to Bill at dtt and he said to change the pressure sensor and gov press slnd, I put in new ones and still no change! it still wants to take off in 3rd gear! whats wrong with my truck? would the PCM be bad? or the Boost sensor, im not getting a check engine light or codes on my OTC stinger scanner! but I do get a p1693 and p0713, p1763 when I cycle the ING switch on 3 times, when I take battery cables off these codes go away , I checked my scanner which is new on another car that has other problems and it checks out fine! I hope someone can help me? thanks for reading this ad!
 
My brother has a 2001 and he had this problem 3 times, he had shift sensors inside the trans go bad. I think he will quit using additives now.
 
Hmmm puff o' white and gutless eh? Kinda Sounds like a fuel timing event (Vp4!?) that is sending you into limp mode (Which feels like a higher gear start. ) But with trans codes only showing .....

The trans is in 3rd gear! I can drive it and it only shifts when I put it in overdrive, then if I kick it down sometimes it will go to 3rd again depending on the rpm, the engine revs real fast when first started but when you drive it just a few feet it dosent want to rev as quick! it will still rev to 3500 rpm but kind of feels retarted running? it may be in limp mode? what causes this? thanks for any answers!
 
Would anyone think my PCM is bad? the original PCM wiring harness was burned up to 1 foot of the PCM, the trucks wiring was replaced and I did drive it taking off in 2nd about 30 miles until it started taking off in 3rd gear, since then its been parked so I took the cover off the pcm and it does have a small black resistor that looks like its been hot and some small tiny bubbles around it? which is near the center of the pcm, other than that I didnt see any other signs of destruction! anyone know how to check a PCM?
 
I put on a new Map Sensor and the trans now takes off in 2nd after a 1st gear take off! so im getting closer the boost also works good now! this sensor must have had me in limp mode?
 
i read a post here weeks ago about or in the mag and talked about schei deisel spelling not correct putting in resistor somewhere for this same sounding problem
