I ordered a new con ofe for my 05 nv 5600 4x4 one ton. had it installed by a transmission shop. they told me it was hard to get in gear and they weren't lying. I almost have to turn it off to get it to go into 1st 2nd or reverse its very hard to get it in gear after i put in neutral. after im speeding up switching gears is still pretty bad. and once i have it in 1st or 2nd if i let out on the clutch maybe just half a inch it starts rolling basically i guess i have no pedal at all. i called peter and he said to drive and it should get better im just worried about slamming it into gear and messing up the transmission now. is this normal does it get better after so many miles please help.

Which exact clutch was it?

It is sounding like hydraulics... possibly.

For now though before taking off from a stop or going into reverse:

Try pushing in the clutch and then sliding the shifter into 3rd then quickly removing from that gear and clutch it again and slide into your gear of choice 1,2 or R.

That usually stimulates the Syncro's and should negate your grinding of gears.

I just had the same problem with the con ofe I put in my 05 g56 and I had South Bend send me there upgraded master and slave setup and it cured the problems. The pedal feels great and it's adjustable.

i have to do that to get my truck into gear also, 3rd, then into a given gear... ;)

Sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging all the way and you are fighting the syncros to get it in gear. Must be that the other set up has more travel or something.
