Thanx for all the responses.

Thanx for all the help guys lots of good ideas but nothing beats a spare. I have a hideakey but forgot to put it back on after i did an extensive pressure washing to get all the winter salt and crap from the underside. :{ . I tried to get in the slider but it has only been used a few times and is very stiff not much play. After putting a few marks in the aluminum centre bar to no avail i gave up on that. I had already phoned a few tow trucks but they were giving me the run around 2-4 hour wait. Full moon go figure, lol. Finally i got a tow truck to come after a couple hours of fustration. I was parked on the wrong side of a one way street and had to keep chasing the traffic cops away. The guy had the truck open in under 20 seconds. Plastic wedge in the window seal with a coat hanger curved like a question mark. 50 canuck bucks and i was on the road again. Thats twice ive done it now, never again. thanx again guys happy motorin doodad

Holset, try it on your truck and see if it works. Might not. It also depends on the gear ratio of the regulator. I had a restored '54 Chevy 1/2 ton a few years back and that was the fastest way to open the door if it was locked! Then (After it was stolen :-laf) I got another '54 (3/4 ton) and it wouldn't do it at all! Go figure!

I tried it on a buddy's 84 Ford van last week (locked out) and I was able to get the window down enough to get the door open with a coathanger.

The roadside assistance that comes with a new truck works real good. You call the 800 # and they send a locksmith or a guy with the correct tools.

I had to do this when my truck was two days old.....

roadside assistance

Yes roadside assistance works. They also will put on a spare if you have a flat (leave it up to the wife to get one). Though not too many service people carry a lug wrench for our 15/16 lug size.
