Buddy of mine has a '99 3500 that was dogging out real bad, I am figuring lift pump. We pulled it into the shop and changed the fuel filter just for giggles and and tried the real test. Failed- It won't refill the filter housing. We cycled the key to the start position momentarily to try to get it to fill 3 or 4 times, then we tried just cranking on it, no luck. I removed the lift pump and bench tested it, by running a hose into a jug of fuel, priming it and then running it. Still nothing.
Convinced that the pump is bad leads me to my next question- Can a non-filtering F. A. S. S. pump be used to get rid of the Factory style lift pump all together. The truck has no mods yet, but this will be the first of many. The plans are in this order, F. A. S. S. , 4" exhaust, guages, air intake, chip, turbo, injectors.
We aren't looking to build a pulling truck or anything just a trailer hauling toy. Will the 90 gph pump be enough to accomodate the future mods named above?
Thanks in advance -Nicholas
