All I gotta say is you couldn't pay me enough money to plow with my truck... it beats the snot out of a rig!

But if you are willing to submit the truck to the abuse, then go for it... guys get trucks for different reasons!

You need a marine valve cover... . # 1 cover has a screw fill cap.

Don' t know the part number... . but find a marine distributor via the Cummins website.

All the transit school buses use the fill cap located in a valve cover. Locate a salvage yard. Somebody may have a valve cover with the filler in it.

For what it's worth. Our snow plow truck (here at the school) has the Boss model plow put on new in '91. This set up uses an electric motor to power the pump. Sets on the left fender well. This truck is quite beat up;

Frame cracked

Front drive shaft worn out

Front axle u-joints shot

One lock out hub broken

Transmission gone

Steering column severely damaged

Steering gear,,,,, you wouldn't want to drive it on the road, for sure.

If you're relocating the oil filler off the timing case cover and into the #1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 valve cover..... what do you 'plug' the hole with in the gear case cover that is left behind?

This little BOMB would decrease the total time required to make timing adjustments by about 3 minutes. :cool:

I've got a guy coming to see about buying my old GMC plow truck tommorrow and have been thinking of putting a plow on the Dodge, I was going to go witth an old style Fisher,with Electric pump mounted out front, but a freind has an almost unused 2 year old Minute mount Fisher that I could have for real cheap, any of you guys have a minute mount and know what I would have to spend for the on truck frame and harness?

call your fisher dealer but first go to the web sight under tech support>parts and instructions>plows>minute mount>93 dodge cummins

should give you a diagram of the whole setup. get the part kits you need cause the fisher dealers aren't much help thus far in my escapade!!!

they told me to call all the dealers around the country and see if they had the pulley fisher #8076 the pulley is the cummins serp. pulley with the v- pulley made in to the front of it. if any of you guys have a handle on where I can find a v pulley to bolt to the front of mine, or a place that might have the pulley let me know. !!!

Hey Matt... ... ... ... ... ... .

You could always use the handy man's secret weapon... ... ... ... .

DUCT TAPE :D :D

The valve cover filler makes things handy on the buses. One thing ya gotta watch out for though,

I use an air powered oil pump. Flows 10 gal a minute. The single valve cover as used on 12 valve engines will only accept 2 gallons per minute. You see where I'm going with this don't you???

Ya,,,I made a BIG mess, OK!!!#@$%! :{

My truck has a v-belt pulley that mounts behind the fan, it was used to drive a aux. vacuum pump for an old trailer brake system. Is that what you are looking for? let me know.

yep yep yepOo. Oo. Oo. :D :cool: yes I would believe so. do you hace a PART # and manufacturer for it or would you consider me buying it off you for the price of a regular pulley or if we could work out a way to swop yours for mine.

This pulley appears to bolt on in front of the serpentine pulley on the fan shaft, directly behind the fan. The problem is I can't see the fan nut, so I can remove the fan. If I can get it off it's yours, how soon do you need it?

I know this is off topic a little BUT, I was reading about this drive pulley for a v-belt. I'm am thinking I can use this to run an air compressor, and still have my air conditioning. I'll have to go a look at my truck to see it one would fit, but there wouldn't be any reason why I couldn't do it is there??? I can fab up the brackets, and can find the pump, but couldn't find anybody to drive it off my "old" dodge! Do you think this type of drive you are talking about will work??

I have been trying to come up with a method to have air on my truck, reliable enough to run air ride suspension on my gooseneck trailer, and I really don't want a 12 volt unit.

Thanks for letting me borrow your topic!:rolleyes:

miller

no problem if it helps you too awsome:cool: try finding an old CDL class truck w/air brakes for the compressor. junk yard, back yard, some place cheap looking. my . 02$

F. boyle empty your mail box.

Update on the pulley, it appears to only fit 92 and up engines. I finally removed it and compared it to my 89 spare motor and it wont fit on the 89, the fan mount is shorter and there isn't room for it. 8(
