does any one know why or have noticed that when you plug in an edge or any other type of enhancement that the engine seems to have a different tone. is it because of the timing differance or is it just my hearing (which i hope not cause im only 20) just wandering why there is a difference.

So Fine

:) I don't know for sure what makes the different sound but your hearing is good. I suspect that because you are fooling around with the timeing and fueling you end up with a different sound. I know my 01 sounds like a whole different truck at idel when I'm on 5x5 than it does box off. :D :D Oh it sounds so FINE!Oo. Oo. Oo.

The Edge EZ advances the timing from the stock setting. That's the reason it sounds different at idle. From there on up, depending on your jumper settings, timing and fueling curves are both modified, thus the difference in sound.

Can anybody describe the change in sound? I really love the sound of mine stock but I do plan on getting a box someday. Does the box increase or decrease the music? Does it change just at idle or when accelerating also?

The sound is altered all the time. The "diesel" or clattering is accentuated, some to the point that they really hammer, with the Edge stuff. My VA makes the engine quieter than stock, it "softens" the diesel clatter sound.

I ran one of the first VA(false power claims and all, thanks BD I still have the box stating over 300hp). It was no powerhouse but it made it quieter. I like the sound with the edge comp better than stock.

Here kitty kitty

Goes from a little purrr to a nice growl. WOT it has a nice stright pipe deep gargle, with turbo whine.

Mine sounds smoother and more responsive to the throttle with just a little pressure. Of course if it didnt I'd be upset!
