Having only run the BD Plug N Power I felt it was worth the cash. But then I never had the luxury to buy ALL the new toys on the market to experiment with. Never had any problems with it and my fuel mileage did go up. Pulled my 24 ft low profile 5ver and didn't know it was behind me. Does a good job pulling the 28 ft high profile 5ver also.

Don't do it! It will be the beginning of THE disease. It will give you a taste of what is possible and you will never be the same! RUN!

I,m considering buying bd plug n power. do the results warrent the cost. thanks Al

Depends. What are you looking for? If you want a little more power, without getting into multiple modifications, I'd say definately yes, you'll like this, it adds power and can be removed if you change your mind. If you care only about mpg, you may or may not see a difference. No mechanical skill required - it took a few minutes to wiggle the plug off because it was tight and temperatures were cold so everything was stiff, but, you can't get much simpler. I made mine a little more complex by taking extra time to smear dielectric grease on the connections before plugging back together.
If you are looking for improved mpg, reported results vary from 0 mpg to possibly as high as 2 or 3 mpg. I installed a VA on a 2001 HO about a month ago, and think my mpg is somewhere between 0 and 1 mpg better. On the other hand, the acceleration is definately up, no doubt about that. I made several runs and timed acceleration from 50 up to 75 mph in 6th gear. It was ~15 seconds before VA, ~10 seconds after VA. In lower gears, it seems like as soon as you put your foot on the floor, it is time to upshift. Also, I think if I had been going to higher rpms, the difference before and after would have been even bigger, because it seemed to be coming on strong just as I was backing off the throttle to stay somewhere near the speed limit.

I feel like a tennis ball. VA or 275 RV injectors. Is there a big difference.

Big A,
They are exactly the same! How can I say that, the others are wondering?
Answer: Because no matter which one you get, you're going to come back, read a few more posts, and then decide one of two things:
1) I should have got the other one!
or
2) I need BOTH!
I chose VA because if I screwed up an injector install, under a worst case scenerio it could mess up my truck by leaking fuel into the wrong places. You can't hardly screw up a box install, unless you break off your plug. But the other side of this coin is that those who have done or watched injector installs do not think it is a big deal.
I think the injectors would probably be more HP bang per buck; but I think an VA or EZ would have more likelyhood of a slight mpg improvement to go along with your power. Most report improved mpg with injectors, too, but, a few report mpg decreased. Very few owners of VA or EZ have seen an mpg decrease, unless they were just constantly hot-rodding with all the new power. I'm just summarizing what I have read here on this board; for "power" questions, by all means, review some dyno results!

Is the tst box better - or- worse than these other boxes. I have a TST Powermax 2. -Or can I use them together?

I have the original VA. Love it,with the 275's just enough power for towing without any mods needed.

1500 - 3000 in 4th = 13 sec
VA,1500- 3000 in 4th = 10 sec
275,1500 - 3000 4th = 11. 15 sec
slight mpg increase both ways.
VA+275 ,1500 - 3000 = 9. 0 sec
. 5 or 1. 5 MPG increase over stock. .
PS boost module,100 to 150 lower EGT's, same power.

e7mack96,

If power is what you want, the TST box will give you more power for the buck than the VA or PowerEdge-EZ boxes. However, the TST is harder to install and leaves nicks in the injector pump wires that can be seen by the warranty police. Yes, you can run the TST box in addition to the VA or PowerEdge-EZ box. I am currently running the VA and a TST box together and it works great. I have tried the EZ successfully as well. There is also a different PowerEdge box that works and connects similar to the TST box.

A friend of mine has had 2 bad VA's in the last 2 months. His supplier said something about a 6-7% failure rate and that particular box is being dropped. Anyone else heard this?

DRT... I have not heard that about the VA, however, a NW BOMBer has tried two PE EZ boxes, and lastly a DD box, and been very unhappy with all three. He has since returned them all.

How much is the TST box,and you say it will go with the VA box,I can run them both, and how much more power will I get from just using the VA . .

Could be refering to the original VA being dropped/replaced by the newer version out??? Just my 2 cents.

I too doubt VA will be dropped. The info given to me was they are changing that box due to the failure rate. My friend told me something about the redesigned one is kinda oval shaped and a little smaller. I am not sure if VA is putting their name on someone elses product or if they are manufacturing them themselves. Anyone know? Anyway---that it what I heard.

Al - Your question sounds like one I asked back a number of months ago. I asked it about a different box, but the answers were the same. I decided it was worth a try... so I bought my PE box and away I went. I was happy as a clam in the mud... then I got bored, wanted a little more power... now look at my signature. This is a long and expensive path you are headded down. Bombing is addictive, you can never have enough power. On a more serious note, what ever box you decide on, you should install boost and EGT gauges before the box. Happy Bombing
