Shocks for towing

Lubricating the 5ver slides

You won't believe this. When I bought my 5er, the guys told me to put screens over the vent and exhaust of the furnace. I did, but it was too late. Wasps had already made a nest against the fan of the furnace. Dealer fixed it, of course. That was last year.

Yesterday I went and got my 5er to get it ready for May Madness!! I had birds living in it!!! Where the hitch mounts to the overhang (what's that part called?) there are access holes for the wires. They are 2" in diameter, and one has wires going thru it, the other does not. That's how they got in (actually, that's how the mama got there and built the nest, the chicks were hatched there. ) The mama was gone looking for food when I went to pick up the camper, and of course is gone. So I had four little chicks in there. I don't know what kind they are. They have bright yellow beaks, and are gray.

The nest was Huge! I thought when I first discovered it that it would be this little small round thing like a robin's nest in a tree, but it took up a whole section of frame! I had to pull the piece of plywood down to get it out.

So, plug up all those holes!!

SOLER,
I agree with you... plug any and all holes, gaps, or opening! We've had a continuous battle with mice in both our last 5er and our new one. #ad
They chewed away some of the foam that pluggs holes around drain pipes and managed to get into our storage area. This summer I'll be constructing some creative bezels in an attempt to fight'em off! That's pretty much how our Fall and Winter goes, now that warmer weather is here, we fight the bugs! #ad

I got them out, and set them and what was left of the nest on the lawn. Needless to say, some cats had some good-eatin' tonight!

I bird hunt all year... for starlings. 4 Birds in 4 shots yeaterday. The coyotes come by after dark for a snack. The starlings are a real pest around farm buildings.

My best shot was 17 starlings, with one shot of #7 in a 12 gauge!

The orchardists in my parts use traps for starlings. They are just a 6'x6'x6' wire mesh cage with an entrance with a outside perch about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. The starlings find their way in easy enough, but when they try to leave they fly up into the mesh. Many folks catch 100s per week. Only problem is you need about 5 "seed" starlings to attract the others into the trap. The seed starlings are easy to come up with if you know someone with a trap, but if you have to catch them yourself it is very difficult.
