In your opinion what is most important when it comes to PM replacement of things such as water pump, belts, thermostat, hoses etc. miles driven or age?

I try to replace the serpentine belt every hundred thousand miles or so, and keep the old belts as spares. A broken belt will shut you down in a hurry. Some people here replace water pumps and hoses on a schedule, but I tend to replace them as needed. I'd say that more important than changing them on schedule is to have them on hand as replacements. All these parts can fail long before their expected end of life. I am also in the group that doesn't replace injectors on a schedule, but since they are so expensive you might consider replacing them on a schedule.

I my opinion, for belts and hoses, both miles and age matter. For water pumps and injectors, I would only worry about miles...or hours. But like Crunch says, for most things, I just worry about replacing them as needed. But don't just ignore things, follow the inspection intervals in the maintenance schedule.
