Sorry guys. I know it's poor form to lurk for months and then only speak up when I need help but here goes.

I've had the PMCR installed for approx. 3000 miles of mixed usage. Different settings have been tried but TE 3 and Pwr 6 is about all my clutch can cope with right now. From time to time I dial up the Pwr to 8 or 9 to demonstrate to a friend or the like. The past couple of brief bursts like this (25-100mph w/EGTs pre turbo only momentarily reaching 1400-1450) have resulted in substantially increased turbo noise at all engines speeds following the run. The problem does not diminish over time. It has gotten worse each time I've leaned on it. The thing sounds like it has no ring or filter now. Visuals reveal nothing unusual on the intake side. The filter is fine. Do I need to look at the exh side of the turbo? Boost levels seem similar now as compared to pre-noise runs. (peaks in the low to mid 40's)

Thanks in advance.

SOrry to get off subject, BUT have you have any surge problems??

I will hit 35 lbs, and then die to 26 lbs, and then the power rolls on again, smoke shows the same as the boost, alot then a little, and then on again

yours even do this?

I haven't had surging problems.

Initial conclusions on the turbo lean toward bearings that couldn't handle the boost. I'm going to repair/replace the turbo and dial the boost back to 38-40 max.

So when you punch it on say, 6-6, the boost hits like 40 lbs and stops AND holds 40 lbs till you stop or EGT stops you?

Cause me and "Sradke" are having this problem, (lost fuel/boost at setting 6 or higher, at about 1800-2100 RPMS, but then comes back on, AND STRONG!!)

I only lose boost at each shift (man trans) and then a slight roll off, say from 45 to 40 or so at the top of each gear as the engine approaches redline and starts to fall off the curve.

DGABBOTT, thanks for the info. As for your turbo, take off the airbox lid/intake tube from the turbo and check the compressor wheel and shaft for play. Also be sure the compressor wheel is tight on the shaft.
