I'm waiting for my pml trans cover to get here. While I'm waiting, I'm thinking about all the comments I've heard about it shooting fluid into the frame rail and making a big mess. Why can't I just put a brass 90 npt fitting in it? That way, I can have it pointing down, and just put the PML plug in the fitting facing the ground?

On second thought . . . what would that do to the magnetic plug? Would it limit it's ability to grab particles out of the fluid?

The stock pan has a magnetic donut to pick up particles and the PML pan has a magnetic tip on the plug.

I have drained the fluid with the PML pan twice now and didn't have any problems with the fluid getting anywhere but in the drain pan.

Same here, sure makes it easy to change, the first time, when I put the pan on, I put on a new filter, now I just change the 7. 5 quarts every 15k miles, I am not going to worry about the filter.

I imagine I'll leave the filter in until 100k or so now, and drain / fill like you guys are doing. 15K sounds like a nice number for that.

What's the trajectory like when you open the drain plug?

mostly like a side mounted oil drain plug. I would center the drain pan about 6-8 inches out from straight under the plug.
