I am prepairing to order a cold air kit for my '01. This kit draws air from behind the cowl under the windshield. I am concerned with rain water being drawn into the engine. Has anyone had any experience with this modification?

Dean,

I've got a home made filter housing on mine that leads to a hole in the cowl. I've never seen any water enter mine, but just incase it might, I have a small drain hole on the low end. The production units probably have a provision for this as well. I haven't seen anything about this manufacturer, but there were several folks on this board a few years back who were playing with this mod. The theory is that there is a high-pressure area there at the cowl when the vehicle is at speed. I did see a little lower EGT's after I made the cut, but it's been several years and I can't give you any specific #'s.
