After 10 years of Northeast weather, my wastegate solenoid failed [broken and corroded wire]. No amount of pliers, vice grips or, 6" pipe wrench would free it. Accessibility was also an issue. This is the tooling I came up with to remove it. The collet/socket has a 1" hex on the end to turn and a standard length 1" open end box combo wrench gives you plenty of torque to loosen the solenoid. I cut my old carb fuel inlet wrench to install the new one in place.

Did you pull the intake Tube to work from above? From my sight it was a nice Job to do. Had also to cut a wrench and get it in/out.

No, I came at it from underneath. With the length of the 1" combo wrench [about 12"]and my body weight I suspect it took in excess of 80 lb./ft. to break it loose.

I did it with hot Turbo, came out fairly easy that way - from above, there is plenty of room to work with removed intake tube.
