Anyone work with clear Polycarbonate or Acrylic sheet?

Can't even sell a car or SUV! geez!

Well there is a possibility of an opening in Pocatello Idaho with AMI. Who has been there, and what is the town and surrounding area like? What is there to do there besides run away from the mormons and chase sheep?

I lived in Poky for two years. It was cool for me because I have a bunch of friends that live there.

Its about 50K in population. High dessert climate. Good hunting and fishing if you like that. Local Goose hunting is very good. Tons of off-roading places. I went everywhere on my 4 wheeler around there.

Decent snows in winter. Ok skiing area about 15 minutes from town. Chair lifts.

Idaho State University is close and kept a fresh supply of girlies coming to town each year. The nightlife is kinda lame though.

Lotsa lotsa mormons. Not bad though. I met a bunch of great folks there.

I actually still go back about 6 months out of the year if I can swing a contract with the gov at the INEEL.

I lived on the Reservation about 12 miles out of town. What an experience that was.

Bad things are: The economy is trashed basically. Windy as ever.

Small boring town most of the time for the younger crowd. I kinda like it though. Most people cant drive at all that live there. I have had guys/gals pull right out in front of me alot.

The JR Simplot plant is one stinky nasty smelling place that sometimes stinks the whole town up. Air quality is not perfect sometimes, but I hear it is better since the phos plant shut down.

Go check it out and see whatcha think. All in all I would love to live there year round, if I could afford too:D

I have friends living right up the road in Blackfoot that I visit once in while. My impression of Pocatello is that I wouldn't want to live there. Dirty, ugly, stinks and poor. 50k people with the culture of a town of 2000. Only thing going for it is ISU and that ain't much. Better than LA though.

:D LOL, illflem... .

There's some small towns around the Willamette Valley... . 300 people, 7 last names. You know you're from Shedd if your front porch collapses and more than three dogs die... .

I have lived in Pocatello for about for 13 years now moved here from Omaha with the U. P. R. R. they move and I stayed, I love it here. Not the most jobs here so I started making the Air Bulldog hood and dams. Its hard to make a living here if you don;t have a good job to start with. AMI is a good place to work from what I have heard. Most of my friends that I moved here with from Omaha that had to move becouse of the rail road are moving back here as soon as they can. If you would like any kind of info. from here just let me know and I would be glad to get it for you. :)

hehe, then I should fit right in. . I grew up in a town of 3K and my High School class had 67 students... since I would be making more money ther than I am here, and throw in the lower COL... I should be living PHAT!

hehe... . Rufus, Dufer, Biggs, Zig Zag, not to mention the banjo music you hear when going through the towns on your way to Detroit Lake.

Hey Doug (Hofeldt), I told Cliff (Diesel Freak) to look you up if he moved to Pocatello, ID. today on the NW BOMBers BB. I knew you would extend a warm welcome to almost anyone... even Cliff. :D

Cliff, take a drive over to Pocatello to see if it has to offer what you are looking for (besides the job)... before you make your final decision.

I grew up in Pocatello and lived the first 28 years of my life there. I also worked at AMI for about 8 years so if you have any specific questions just send me a pm. To alot of people passing through or new to the area I can see how it might not look that attractive but if you spend some time there it starts to grow on you. There are alot of outdoor activities in the immediate area. I spent alot of time riding motorcycles while I was growing up, you dont have to travel far to get to the trails.

What is the Street Racing Scene like out there?

What are the motorcycle and quad trails like?

How much snow do they get in the winter (will I have to get the new Yamaha RX-1 to get myself to work) ?

No street racing scene at all. Plenty of guys that know hot-rods though. I have one friend that was a funny car driver and now pilots a jet car. Two others are bracket racers.

The local track is/was shut-down last year.

All the local hills for riding are close. Trail creek was one I visited daily when the weather was snowy or during the summer months.

Bully Dog is close for performance stuff if you want/like their products. They are on Aberdeen right down the road.

There is a dyno right in town. The bars downtown are always full of local girlies from ISU (-;

It aint half bad for a guy that is single. Back when I was single and did not even live there I would always hit Poky for the girlies.

Lots of girlies. The snake river is packed with trout too. If you fish.

AMI is close to downtown and the dyno!

Great pumpkin flavored shakes from the local Arctic Circle in the fall season. Killer hamburgers with fetta cheese at Nicks.

Its not much to look at unless it snows, then stuff looks great.

One thing we really looked forward to was Lava Hot Springs. You gotta go there. I/we usually bring large plastic cups full of beer and sit in the hot springs when it snows. Its awesome and really relaxes you after a hard day at the trails. Dont tell the guys you have beer in the cups (-:

If you are going to be in Poky go to the INEEL and apply out there for work too, if you want. I worked out there for years on and off for a few months at a time.

Lots of neat stuff to see and do out there Cliff. The snowfall the last few years has been lower than historical norms. Usually about 30 inches per year, which brings me back to the ski area about 20 minuted from downtown.
