Pod securing ??'s

I just recieved my steering column pod in the mail today. It slips on over the existing column cover and it seems to fit pretty snugly to me. But I was just wondering if any of you guys that have this pod use any sort of glue or any other adhesive when using this pod. I don't think it will rattle or move any while driving but I would use an adhesive just to make sure if there is anyone else who has used any.

Peanut Screws tucked neatly where it counts. Behind the meat of the wheel you cant see them.

Black Oxide Sheet metal screws ½" in length and being they are black they blend in seamlessly.



The A~Pillar pods come with directions and affix easily either by themselves or as an overlay (there are two different styles)



As for the dash pods ... . Seen em but perfer pillar mounts.

My steering column pod came with 4 plastic push-in buttons. I picked 4 locations (ft & rear on left & rt) where there was room inside the housing for the ends of the buttons, place the pod on the housing, & drilled for both. You also must drill a hole in the housing for the wires to come through for a sano install. Install the gauge in the pod, set it on the housing, & push in the fasteners.

I think I will have to go with ToolManTimTaylor's idea though. Because the pod that I have does not have any push-in buttons. I will put it on and drive for a while, if it starts to loosen, then I will use the screws.

My first idea was just a few dots of Elmers Glue on the bottom of the pod, I figured it would make a decent hold but still be able to take it off when I wanted to and clean off the Elmers Glue.

I've never mounted a steering pod but I 've heard you can also use double sided tape too.

On both the A-pillar gauge pod and the steering column pod, I used silicone sealant to secure the cover to the original trim. Worked great!

Silicone sealant sounds like a pretty good idea.

Make sure whatever you use (weather it be Double sided tape , sealant , glue) the surfaces MUST be cleaned with alcohol or something the same. Armorall seeps into plastic and allways has a tendency to rise to the surface to release tape and glues.

I will definately make sure it is clean. I have never used Armorall because it is water based. I have been coating my dash with Meguires Vinyl and Rubber, it is petroleum based. Do you think this may cause a problem?? If so than I will just use the peanut screws.

There ya have it ... . petrolium based. A derivitive of oil. Don't rub too viggerously as the alcohol can rub off the paint if you really rip on it.
