In a few weeks I'll be ordering my new parts... . ATC manifold, PDRhx35, 16cm housing and injectors. I do alot of towing and it seems its always uphill. Will the pods give to much heat? Would I be better with the Bosch 190's? I will also advance the timing... but how much? The truck is stock except for the exhaust and K&N and I can max out my EGT,s any time I pull a grade. I think my injectors are going south, their has been a gradual loss of power over the last year. BTW The average temp here in the summer is 111F, and thats in the shade!

yup, got me a set of POD's, -35, and 16cm, and it tows nice. It's only handicap is the non-lockup transmission, but that's going to be cured this winter.

When I moved last I had about 18,000 lbs gross going down the highway, and the worst area was going up I-25 towards Colorado - at that time the rig was hauling along at about 65 mph and the od engaged, with the engine at 225*, transmission at 235*, boost at 10psi, and the pyro at 1200*. Maintained that for hours - no sweat, but man had I had a stick or lock-up transmission would have been way better.

With your 5-speed I think you'll like that setup a lot with POD's. They're plenty of injector, and you can dial down the pump to compensate if they flow too much... ... ... can you flow too much fuel. . ???

Thanks, Sam should I expect the same hp/tq numbers you have? I was also told the new atc manifold and turbo will help reduce egts.

probably pretty close - my numbers were at 'Vancouver' (read: PDR) altitude, so if you're close to sea level you'll be in that ball park. Now that I'm up at 7000' my numbers are down a bit -

I had the rig smogged a couple days ago - didn't pass the first time due to too much smoke, but it slapped down 192 hp. So I go back, rotate the diaphram back around to the lean side, crank the starwheel all the way up, and go back to the emissions shop for a recheck - 199 hp, and passed smog! Oo. Woo hoo! - went up 7 hp, had less smoke, and used less fuel - I love this stuff! Not much else has been done to the pump, but what a combo. After I get the engine mods done tho I'll be looking to double every number I've ever produced... . :-laf yeah baby... .

One of the biggest reasons I'm going to twins is for the egt's, especially at this altitude. The more air I can get in the better I'll be, especially with an 8000 lb truck. PDR's stage II head and cam will help the most tho, but the twins come with an ATS manifold for exactly the reason you want to reduce the egt's - the better the exhaust gets out the lower the egt's. I'd go with the ATS all day long, besides it'll give you a really good reason to change out those pesky exhaust manifold gaskets, ja?! :-laf

Thanks again Sam, I will be doing the dyno at about 800ft above sea level, I also don't have to worrry about the smog issues. The PODS are on sale at PDR, I'll probably just get them.

How heavy do you tow? If you run into egt issues with stock injectors, you sure will be running HOT with POD's. Pod's are NOT recommended for towing bro. Then with pump mods, forget it. I think you'd be happy with the 190's good compromise of power and towing keeping egt's in check. Timing advance 1/8". I don't tow, and I can get high egt's if I want.

I tow a 8000# enclosed when loaded. Every grade around here is 7% or better and I drive up one every day to go home, about six miles or so, I wonder what the difference in power between the 190's and the PODS? Like I said before, I've experienced a loss of power over the last year or so, I only notice it towing, and my fuel consumption has risen slightly, so I think I could have some injectors going south. The guy I bought it from ,the original owner, thought he was doing good and put a quart of transmission fluid in his fuel once a month, for 100K miles, so that didn't help out my injectors at all.

I think the 190s are around +25/30 and the PODs are +55/60

I have the Bully Dogs and they are in between those... I like the power and I can't get my EGT above 1150 empty..... which is good for me because it's idiot resistant. :-laf
