Ford trailer electrical question?

Someone gimme $25,000, I WANT IT!!!

I've been wanting a four-wheeler for the last few years now but just can't bring myself to spend the money on one. I remember seeing an ad about a Polaris Diesel ATV in 2000 or 2001 and was wondering why they stopped making them and if anyone on here had any experience with them. If Polaris or anyone for that matter still made one I'd probably be checking into one right now but it appears that Polaris made it a one time only thing and no one else has ever followed suit.

Anyone on here got one of these rare Polaris Diesels or have any experience with them? Why did they stop making them? No market? Enlighten me.

This is what I heard -

I was over in Burns Oregon this past Antelope season, and I saw a guy with a bunch of 4 wheel'ers fueling up - he had a Ford Diesel, and so I asked him if he liked the machines he had. One thing led to another and I ask him that hey I heard somebody makes a diesel ATV. He said yes that so and so did, and that he said they were not what he thought they would be - I didn't get anymore info than that.

polaris Diesel

I have seen one so they do exist. I haven't heard one run yet but I was told that it is very loud and obnoxious (obviously a diesel). Last time I checked they were still available for sale( a couple of years ago). I still wouldn't get one because of the Polaris drivetrain and my experiences with them. IMHO.

They are no louder/more obnoxious than the gasser ATV's. Over on the SETDR, one of the members has one and he loves it. I can't remember if it's a Polaris or not but he brought it to the Mopar Nationals back in September, and the only way you could tell it was diesel was revving it standing still(knocking). But running down the road you would think it to be just another ATV.

I was looking at one when i bought my atv. Some of the complaints I seen on other forums were:

Too slow(35mph top speed)

Too loud

Smoked alot

Some complained of the smell(diesel)

Rear independent suspension that would squat down when you towed a trailer.

This was back in 99, and at the time Polaris was the only one that made one. One thing they loved about them was the low end pulling power. I dont know if they still have them or not, but thats all i can tell you about them. Mine was a sportsman 500, which was the same size/style but a gasser, LOVED IT!

I live in the heart of Polaris country and I own two Polaris ATVs. I would not buy a diesel ATV. Apparently no one else will either. My ATVs are 95 and 96, both two stroke and both BOMB'able. The two stroke oil smell even better than diesel fumes.

There is a local place that will put the 400cc 2-cycle up to about 65 hp. With the right clutching and some weight stripped off there aren't too many machines that would touch it. The 4x4 launches are the envy of the Banshee crowd.

Rattlin` ATV

I don`t think they were real powerful. If I remember correctly, they were NOT turbocharged, and were really gutless above 3-4000 foot altitude. IF they would turbo it, I`d buy one.

Perhaps a good use for a HY35??
