Alrighty guys,

A wonderful deal on a Polaris Diesel Quad was found by a friend of mine. The timing had jumped so it needs the intake valve etc. We have come to the conclusion that no matter how much power it had stock... . it's not enough. It needs to be BOMB'ed. We are thinking a small turbo... but how do we get more fuel? Anyone play with one of these before? Do we just need a bigger Jerk pump? Bigger injector? Pressure supply pump? What have you found? O-ring the block and head? We wanna go mess with the gasser quads in the area.

That's what we have read. But like anything diesel... we want to BOMB it..... any ideas?

We are thinking Fire Ring it, a pressure type fuel pump for more flow, a bigger injector, and a turbo for a snowmobile!

Josh

P. S. Yes we are nuts!

Diesel quad?

A diesel quad? Awesome! I have a Kawi Prairie 650 and it'll climb a tree, not to mention run 70 mph :--) I don't see how anyone would want to run faster than this on a short wheelbase.

From what I have read it's a Fuji engine, 450ish cc one cyilnder. Everything I've read says it'll only do about 35, but it'll pull a semi in neutral.

You guys ARE sick. Can't wait to see it run. I bet little turbo off a Mitsu or subaru would work. Heck, John Deere has some 3-cylinder tractor engines with little turbos, I bet that would work too. Find a used one!

Polaris quad

Just an opinion, OK? I checked out Polaris, Honda and Kawi quads before settling on the Kawi V-twin. Honda was my second choice and I actually liked the fit-and-finish better on it. But there was something about the Kawi twin cylinder machine that said "I am all you can handle, m'boy!"

But back to the Polaris. More than one dealer told me to look in his repair shop and see what brand is most numerous. It's Polaris. Dealers like 'em because they make money twice: when they sell 'em and when they fix 'em.

This is unscientific, I know, so I'm just passing along information. I know I'm mighty happy with my quad. It runs Colorado trails in the summer and plows snow in the winter. Hasn't missed a beat in two years and it even towed a broke-down Corvette once!

But I grant you I would like to see (and hear and drive) a diesel quad, regardless of which machine is wrapped around it!

What are the specific models they made??- something to put into the e-bay and such search engines. I does not look like the diesels are avalible anymore- the polaris site was unfriendly and immediately trys to hook you up with a dealer or give up e-mail for spamming from polaris.

The Wheeler is going to be obtained for cheep. So what brand is pretty set in stone.

The Diesel model they made was a "500" but is from what I found a 468cc engine. They only made it for 2 years, 98 and 99 from what I understand.

Diesel Polaris

Hey Josh,

We have one, they are slow but we do not mind as we use it for hauling stuff around our property. It has alot of low end power, nothing on the top end! You will probably like it once you have it repaired. good luck!
