Here is a pole on how many times you have had the air quality control called on you because of smoke.

This is my second time driving a cummins that I have had some do gooder, bunny hugger call the feds on me.

The letter i got was when i was towing up in nevada county on hwy 80 outside grass valley.

None, but my truck smokes very very little, I have to stay out of it to keep my wallet happy. But anyway a Cummins BOMB'd has to smoke less than a stock PSD my brothers would smoke all the time, 99, and I saw what looked like a stock 350/6. 0 PSD earlier today a lane trying to get out of its own way.

Next time send the EPA to your local PSD owner.

I keep getting this feeling that we all should be careful of letting them smoke.

It is going to catch up to some of us someday. Then we will have them looking up our exhaust pipes.

I do like to see the smoke in competion but not normal driving.

With the addition of my II's I wouldn't be surprised. Every now & then I throw a wee bit of smoke on some poor unsuspecting schmuck! Accidentely of course!

Clay :D

when i had my old 6. 2 liter blazer me and one of my buddys that has a 6. 2 in a half ton pickup both got warnings for loud exhaust and "excessive exhaust smoke" when we were racing off of the stop light. They couldnt even tell we were racing we were going so slow :D

Firemanemt, I used to live in the Grass Valley area there are a lot of those "do gooder, bunny hugger" types in the area. Here in UT the emission standard is 30% opacity. I can't get near 30% no matter how hard I put my foot into it.

Mostly I use it as a deterrent to tailgating, I generally keep the box down on level 1 or 2. Being near Nevada County (and having family in said county) I try to keep a low profile when visiting... lots of home-grown and transplant tree-huggers in that area!

I'm in the grass valley nevada city alot. Next time I'll be leaving nice black kisses every where i go.

Also for fun i like to drive by vagrants load up the engine a little then hammer down, timing it just right so the black smoke comes out under pressure, covering the said vagrant in a cloud of smoke.

Smoke???

What's this obsession with smoke? It simply means you have a bad air/fuel mixture. I can see it at the track but not on a street rig.

When Banks ran their 700+ hp Cummins on the Salt Flats for a land speed record (226+ MPH) it didn't smoke. They used the same truck to haul their equipment and stuff to the "Flats". It got something like 20mpg on the way over there.

Anyway, ya need help boys. Talk to your shrink about this smoke thing. Do you like professional wrestling too? Weird! I like my power going to the rear wheels.

smoke free... ..... Mike

I have to agree with Mike, smoke is just unburned fuel, which means your not running at optimal efficiency or your bogging the motor. Eventually this is going to come back and bite us via the EPA. Do have to admit I have tried fogging a few tailgaters though (little tougher in a basically stock auto truck)!:D

The reason i think i smoke is the open exhaust (no resinator or muffler with 4") I also have a box with rv injectors. Only when i'm pulling up hill or lugging it does it smoke. under normal driving conditions It's pretty clean.
