From my painting days I seem to remember there were two separate products, Floetrol (this is the proper spelling) for water base paints and Penetrol for oil based paints. I never tried it on fiberglass.

Never tried Floetrol/Flowtrol but I have use hundreds of gallons of Penetrol on fiberglass and metal RVs... ... ... ... ... . the transformation is remarkable.

Proper prep is the key to a good shine. DO NOT USE BLEACH if you are going to use Penetrol. It will cause it to fish eye like crazy... .....

Rinse, rinse and re-rinse. Blow dry the cracks and any place water can hide. Then just shoot it. If you miss a spot, it is self leveling. Just go back and shoot the spot you missed.

Barry -- When you put penetrol on fiberglass, does it turn yellow or weird with age? Will it accept a polish/wax afterward? What about applying it with a brush, will that work OK? -- Doug

It has never yellowed or flaked. After applying, wash with an easy wash/wax and it will stay shiny for over a year. Hit it with a big pressure washer and a harsh detergent and it will come off. You can go right back over it in a year or so with another coat.

Vivilon however will wear like iron.

Yes, you can apply it with a weanie roller... ... ..... but it does not do as pretty of a job as an HVLP.

The colors will come back and glisten. You will be able to stand back from the coach and see yourself in the reflection.

Tape off the windows(glass) and then shoot the black frame around the window. It will look like new. Shoot the hitch and frame and sewer pipe. They will look like new.

You can also go out and make 4 to 5 hundred dollars a day doing this for dealers.

Barry--You have me sold on Penetrol. What did you use to clean the fiberglass RVs before applying? Thanks for all the great info. It is guys like you that make this such a good web site!! -- Doug

Our favorite detergent was a product called "Purple" by ZEP. Home Depot carries it. It is hot, so cut it in half with water.

For stubborn streaks, use "Streak Be Gone"... ... ... ... ... .

Then rinse, rinse and re-rinse. Prep is the key to this whole thing.

This is the best stuff I have ever used and was recommended to me by a friend who has had extensive boating experience. I used it on my 5th wheel and after 10 years of RV'en I have found nothing better. It is worth the investment. Go into Amazon.com and check out the reviews
