Competition Electronics for 24v ???

Competition Calling Out The Edge Truck

MTR's! No doubt about it for me. I run 37's on my 3rd gen on stockers, and 33's on my 2nd gen on steels. The 37's are nice cause they're load range E's for towing.

Im stuck between toyo mt/s and nitto mud grapplers I KNOW the toyos are better or at least equal to the bfs lots about them on the kore site. Im done with off road just want some thing that wears well and handles good and still looks good with my lift. I like the nittos but they seem like quick wearers to me and I soon want to go to either a set of WELD racing chyenne 8s or pacer juice 8s in 20". So I think the bfs are out for that, not many sizes if any in r20

I worked at a Les Schwabb Tire Center and have owned a few tires and serviced thousands. The BFG M/T is a sure thing, had a guy with a Lil Toyota with 50% tread left after 80k miles with a balance and rotation every 3k religiously. The BFG A/t's are ok, but are scary at 80 miles per hour. swampers wear crazy fast, and goodyears wear pretty fast. Toyo's rule supreme. The bead seat is continuous, not welded or stamped together like other tires, this means a tire that balances better and consequently lasts longer. 99% of the time the toyos require less balancing wieght (if any) than other brands

What about the Michelin military tires (XZL or XL)? Probably darn near impossible to get currently though.

Impressive looking tires, but extremely expensive--like ~$400 each. They are also speed limited to 55 or 65 mph.

What big(over 35") mud tire isnt 400 each that is 10 ply for our tanks, I mean trucks and will actually drive decent. I got over 1600 in my ten ply slow wearing all around badass swampers and If there was a close cheap place to balence them I coulda got twice the miles out of them.

Get your head ouda the cloulds and remember you get whay you pay for.

My Buckshots ran me in the neighborhood of $270/tire (5x) on the truck w/ shipping, warranty, studs, balancing, steel stems, etc. I looked into those Michelins & was floored at the price--almost double what you'd pay for BFGs, Buckshots, Goodyear, Swamper, mud tires. Granted, some sizes have a ridiculous load rating & excellent traction, but bein' limited to 55 mph & havin' them wear quickly certainly don't make them the ideal tire. $350-$400 was the BASE price of the tire 3 yrs ago. You'd have to pay shipping ($45+/tire), FET (stupid amount based on the weight of the tire--like $25-40/tire) & a bunch of other costs (mounting, balancing, warranty--if there is one, etc). On the truck they'll could run ya easy $600 each or more. I'm not even certain the LT version is available in the U. S. any longer. A quick search came up w/ nothin' except 3 & 4 yr old info. I couldn't find 'em on Michelin's website.

The gentleman who does the Earthroamer tried 'em & found they weren't suitable for any kind of on road driving except for short, low speed stints. Anything over 55-65 mph (depending on tire size) & they seriously overheat & self-destruct. Some folks I've talked to had a terrible time gettin' them balanced. Others had no trouble. They're also worthless on ice (but then, so are Swamper & BFGs).

Frankly, for the money you can do better.

I have no doubt... the Goodyear MT/R is an excellent tire, I have at least 60k on mine and they are still about 35%, and not a flat yet, even on gravel that killed the tires, (BFG, Hankook, Dunlop, and Bridgestone) on our crew truck, my father has been running them overloaded on his welding truck for at least 40k and they have been nothing short of perfect, (11k lbs on 285/16's) I am going to try the Toyo's next though, as I think they may be a bit better on ice as they are siped a bit more. A good friend of mine with an 01 CTD 2500 ran a set of Truxxs MT's, got maybe 20 out of them, and he HATED them...

no votes cum'on guys I can't be alone on this all the above tires are in the 350-420 range a hard choice to make with out opinions based on expirience

O well its lonely at the top :-laf

I voted for the BFG M/Ts, but only because there was no option for the MTRs or Toyo M/Ts.

I faced with a hard decision soon First off the pro comp tires are buy 3 get one free via rebate right now so that makes it hard to not go with them. Then the toyo m/ts only come in 37/13. 50 on a 18 not a 16 in 16 " wheel only have 315/ 75 or 38 14. 50 Any one ever run a 38 14. 50 how much lift does it take? how do they handle?
the diameter is like 37. 7 not sure if I would want that heavy of a tire I definitly think that narrower and taller is better for the highway and overally drivability. So either I have to find some 18" welds or stay with the sorry hard to polish eagle 143s and run the big 38-14. 50s or I could Run a procomp xterrain in 37-13. 50 on my 16s not sure what to I

I will say that If I had a nice kore lift and lukes link and upgraded steering and slotted/crossdrilled rotors and good bilstiens and... ..... ... everything else was truly right than I would love my swampers and would never dream of changing to any thing else. they have already out last every thing else I have had on the truck including the factory michelins in 265 75! really the truck still drives good on the stock drag link and all i added was another steering stabilizer under the factory one. The only thing that you can feel is the added weight of the swampers when stopping. Im just ready for something less agressive All swampers will do is give you false courage and get you stuck worse and being as heavy or heavier than any of my friends truck its hard to get pulled out with any thing but a winch and had my fair share of problems with those too. sorry for the rant

Any one that has tryed the 38-14. 5 post below and share your thoughts
