Best test of power?

Who's rode with DTT???

Stronger steering equipment for the front end ! You left that one out. Looking at having to spend $1000 to correct defective Dodge parts. :D And 'ol Briar ain't the only one.

Uh, Mark, not trying to mess up your poll or anything, my sarcasm was directed at D-C and not you.

You must have missed all my posts about the steering problems. Some trucks have lots of problems, others don't seem to. Mine needs new ball joints all around, a track bar, and a new steering gear box. Individually, by themselves, those parts are not too expensive, but add them all up, plus labor charges, and it gets REAL expensive. Throw in an alignment on top of that.....

And the truck is only a 2001, practically new. Almost impossible to find aftermarket replacement parts for a truck this new. $217 each for ball joints from the Dodge stealer! And they won't last any longer than the bad ones that are on the truck now.

Enough of us out there with these front end problems, that D-C should do something about it. Most of us are filing a complaint with the NHTSA. One guy posted that he has gone through six track bars !!!!

Should I fix the steering, or trade it in?

Briar-

Seems like you could do something under your state's Lemon Laws but a worn out track bar, ball joints, etc would be hard to quantitatively show that it was wore out. It is more a "feel" or qualatative judgement, which wouldn't hold up in court.

If you could trade in the truck for not much loss I'd do it b/c if you have to be replacing all those steering parts all the time then it will add up in money and time spent w/out your truck.

Not trying to rain on your poll, but

You've already got the SRW 3500--any 2500 diesel stick w/camper pkg. has the exact same axles, springs, and disc brakes as the 3500.

The true crew cab ain't gonna happen-- DC has too much tied up in the 4 door tooling to add another body line for, what, <5% overall truck sales?

The 5 speed auto would be a great change, to get away from the too weak for a diesel 4 speed. This would hit 50-60% of market sales.

The higher output diesel IS coming with the common

rail Cummins.

get one wish

I was at the dealer the other day and he said that they got a fax from DC that outlined a little about the new trucks. SRW 3500 is one of the options as well as a short bed. At least maybe they do listen a little:rolleyes: I would like to see a real crew cab with as much room as a Ford.

Before my 92 CTD 2500 I owned a 91 SRW 3500 CTD. Don't know why they discontinued this option until now but it affected sales around here by quite a bit. A lot of us don't want the wide rear end but need the extra rating. Maybe now I'll buy a new Dodge after the first year of this new model goes by.

I would really like to see EGT, Boost, Transmission Temp, and Lift Pump Output Pressure guages as standard equipment with the Cummins. No such thing as too much information on what's going on under the hood. But DC probably feels the less we know the better, gauges would be an open invitation to BOMB.
