I'm calling BS on this statement. I know for a fact that my 01 has a tighter turning radius than the new Furds!!!! And I seriously doubt that the 3rd Gens have a worse turning radius than the 2nd gens!

i test drove both and OWN an 03 -- the ford is longer and turns tighter on and off paper!

i'm talking ford v. the dodge not 2nd v. 3rd gen

I agree with the New Fords ('04 and up) turning tighter than my 3rd gen.

And I wouldnt buy the mega cab until it came with an 8' bed. Other than that, I like it.

Hmmmm - according to Motor Trend the 04 Dodge turned significantly tighter than the Ford - "But while the Sierra offers the most direct and easiest steering, the Dodge notably has the tightest turning diameter, 7. 7 feet smaller than the F-250's (owing to its shorter wheelbase and front coil springs instead of the Ford's longitudinal leafs). " - http://motortrend.com/roadtests/pickup/112_0409_bigtrucks/index2.html . I couldn't find in that article if one was a short bed and one a long bed however.

I personally like the overall design of the MegaCab but most likely will not be buying one. The reason, no payload capacity. A MC 3500 has about the same payload as my '04 2500 QC/SB. Since I'm already pushing the limits of my truck I may just have to buy a crew cab GMC.

seems ok

In our case the M cab would fit real well, being "old farts" with some new grandchildren, we sure need the cab room. Had a 93 till we bought the 99,at the time I was still in construction so the 8' bed was a must. Doc said use head for something else other than resting drywall on while hanging it or forget about ever moving head again. Our next truck will be a short bed . Our 93 was easier to own but our 99 is easier to live with so this M cab might git er done for us. I'll be on the web and in the lots when it hits the dealerships. When we bought "grammy's" Pilot my homework and research really paid off so I'm ready for more bloodshed . We can be sure we'll hear full MSRP and then some at first but it only takes one serious dealer to make it happen. Mike

The three bears and Dodge trucks.

... the little one (SWB) is too small for pulling my 5th wheel.

... the big one (Mega Cab with any size box) is too big. :(

... the 3rd gen quad cab (with 8' box) is just right, pulls the 5th wheel nicely, and still fits in my garage. :D

What would have been a nice option IMO, is the mega cab w/o the storage space behind the rear seat and a 7' bed.

I hope the rest of you are able to get what you need. :-laf

Big cab is great. short box sux. I dont drive in small circles so steering would be ok. The problem is the frame the way they make it these days, it would need to be longer.

Although I like the room in the MC, I hate the front end look... kind of a cross between a Nissan Titan and a Dakota. The silver piece at the bottom sucks big time.

My next pickup will be (in all likelyhood) a QC dually unless the MC is available by then with an 8' bed and duals.

Oops, should have selected the second option. You may change it if you like. :)

However, I would not buy a mega cab. Have no use for one and the quad works just fine for my needs.

PS: I'm glad it is an option for those who have the need.

My feeling on the Mega Cab is that D/C is in bad need of a new selling feature so when they ditch the Cummins and put their D/C diesel in its place, they will still have a slim chance of selling trucks. IMOP, the only reason Dodge sells trucks is the Cummins. Once its gone, the truck will go back to being "just a Dodge" . Just like the one that Timmys dad on Lassie drove back in the fifties on TV. Plain and ugly an no power. :-laf

I wish they would have resisted the urge to be the "biggest" cab. Who really cares? The Ford and GM crew cabs are plenty big, and they offer 8 foot beds, like real pick-ups should have IMO. A "regular" crew cab with an 8' bed would have been something I would buy. I think instead of spending the money making the cab so big, they should have invested in a new wheelbase to give us a 4 door long bed like the competition. They could have also spent some on the interior, the seats are the same short thigh, rock hard numbers.

I would also agree that if the Cummins wasn't part of the package, I would be driving something else.

Chrysler Listen. 8' box dually real Automatic 6 speed with a towing and solo overdrive that can be selected by user. Than you can leap frog the competion. The megecab is great but do what you did with the 94 trucks and leap frog with availability and a decent automatic instead of lagging behind. How long have we heard and waited that the automatics would be exhaust brake compatable. If Chrysler execs are too arrogent to listen to these boards and polls get them out on the roads and pay attention to what is out there pulling. Mostly crew cab duallys for serious towing.

Kind of reminds me of those ford explorers with a p/u bed. I have no use for a m/c or four full doors. My QC fits my needs for pulling the 5vr & letting the four legged kid in & out. But I'll have to agree that when they offer it in a long bed dually they will finally catch up with the rest of the the big 3.

Like alote of people here I really like the 4 'real' door extended cab. The long wheel base is better for stable bumper towing.

Now I have the option of a 6' or 8' bed and two cabs with the same long wheel base. Very Cool

Correct me if I'm wrong - but doesn't Dodge offer the biggest standard, extended and soon to be- crew cab? Again ... . cool

Remember in 94' we had only a standard cab - boy you would really have to be sold on the Cummins espeicially if you wanted a extended cab.

We some how got through a whole year with only a standard cab offered.

Don't worry fellow TDRers the long bed will come very soon. Dodge seems to be big on half year model changes - so it would'nt suprise me see it as soon as 06. 5.

So Dodge -- how about a Cummins powered SUV while your at it!

I don't like it.

I have to qualify my answer: I tow heavy so I want a longbed dually QC and my wife likes a short wheelbase QC. So, the new one doesn't fit either of our needs. There are lots of folks who want a full crew cab SB and this will make them happy.

In my opinon, Dodge dropped the ball on the working crowd that will need long beds and dual wheels. I would absolutely love to have the extra room, so we'll see if we are loud enough to get it produced.
