less dtc's from the smarty would be a great start in my book. then after that be able to plug it into your computer download the software. play with it upload it into smart plug into Data link connector and go into smarty and choose from stock, catcher, or my program.

More RPMS from smarty would be really nice. I bought the PPE hot for my other truck for the rpms and i love it. now im looking for a shop to send the heads (forget freight I want someone i can drive to 4 hours one way or less) and do alot of head work including valve train and run PPE HOT 2 for even more rpms. if i am gonna play with my head i might as well do it like i want it the 1st time around.

The only code my truck ever produced while using the Smarty was the P0602. That has long since been resolved, what other codes are you getting, and are you sure it is the Smarty causing them?

Smoke is the only issue I have. I'm running the 90hp program now and it's just unacceptable to me, even on stock tm. I would think the only way your gonna decrease the smoke is to change the fueling curve to wait until boost come on some. This will decrease the great throttle response performace the Smarty is known for. I think there is a percentage of people (me included) that would be willing the sacrific some of that performace for less smoke. Might help mileage too. I would also think that smoke in the 4. 5 and up trucks will always be more that the 03 and 04s b/o valve timing. But that can be corrected:D.

I have resorted to twins because of this (mpi's mid june). At 28,000 lbs my 5er is getting smoked! My tires & gears are not helping either :p

I think that Bob and Marco have done a great job with the JR. I have no smoke issues with my 2004 and I do not want a bunch of options to worry about. Thats why I bought the Jr instead of the "Sr" version. The Jr is easy to use with only the three options to pick from. I think that if someone wants more than that maybe they should buy the Sr version. But everyone has to decide what is important to them. :)

smarty jr

I have a new beta software for reduced smoke for the smarty jr as of the am. shoot me an emil address for a beta,

Thanks

The smoke does vary from every year and stick vs. auto.

Thank god for a full head of hair... . :-laf

Yep, as soon as I got my new Garrett BB turbo in and saw the smoke on the 90hp program, I started thinking of the Artic Air Twins. A cam and intercooler will help and be cheaper. I said I'd never do twins. Isn't it funny how things change. I don't think I'm gonna do twins, but I did think about it seriously for the first time. I bet Marco will get it worked out for us.

Bob, your efforts are appreciated. Clearly you guys have your hands full trying to please everyone, from those who want to smoke like an old coal fired locomotive to those who just want better economy with low smoke. It is also clear that MADS has done amazing work with the Smarty and has very sharp people working on their programs. Thats why the smoke issue is so frustrating. With their talent one would think crafting low smoke programs (at least for the lower power levels) and/or an essentially stock like program with noticeably better economy would be a snap.

With todays fuel prices more and more people would gladly give up some performance to see a noticeable increase in mpg. Besides adding ammo to the anti diesel tree huggers and being discourteous to fellow motorists, smoke out the pipe is wasted fuel is it not?

Oh and while I have your ear, if I have the dealer adjust the ABS to suit my 285/75s with the stock program and then load a smarty program and then go back to stock, will the tire size be what the dealer set or what my truck originally came with from the factory?

I would like a few things...

Be able to plug in when running to show things such as requested and supplied rail pressure, sensor voltages, etc.

Enable options such as fog lights with the high beams...

Correct the overhead MPG display. Allow corrections for injector sizes. Kinda like the tire sizes.
