Congratulations!

You're keeping your 2002 diesel... right?

John L.

For now. In a few months after I realize that having 2, 1 ton trucks is a little absurd, I'll address the damage from the front right blowout last summer ($130 in plastic), a pinon seal and maybe the front end (1 ball joint is a little loose), I may put her on Craigslist for $23k. That's my price to part with her.

yup, that is the more economical part, fuel as well as you can go farther now inbetween tuneups.

We'll see. I call BS on 100k mile/1700 hour spark plugs, and I got 16 of the little guys.

My GM van had 115K on it before I changed plugs. The only reason I changed them was preventative maintenance, BTW I don't own GM, its the company van.

" I call BS on 100k mile/1700 hour spark plugs"- Right there with you. I ran an S-10 company truck about 65k until it started to get bad fuel economy. Checked the plugs on a lazy Sunday morning and found those 100k platinums had no more platinum and the gaps were HUUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEEE! A new set of plugs and right back to good fuel economy and a better idle.

Wifes 2010 hemi has almost 80k on it so I'll be checking and replacing plugs on it soon as the gas mileage has dropped a bit. Has a little bit of a rough idle too..................................

I need to do the plugs on my 2010 4.7L sometime soon (I'm doing ball joints, etc. on my '07 right now, so it will be a while). But, If I read correctly, the bottom row of 8 are platinum, the top row I believe are just standard plugs. I think the manual suggests replacement of the top row at ~50K and the bottom at 100K on the 2010.

No distributor cap, points and all electronic? I have gotten many miles out of platinum plugs before the OEM 100K mile claim and the gaps were good even after 50K. I changed them back in 1991, because I installed a long block in my POC Ford Currier 2300CC 4 cylinder engine, and you don't use used plugs in a new engine. FWIW I believe the claim, but it also depends on driver, conditions and gas used.
